Greetings all,
Next week i am going to start writing "house rules" if you like on being able to play 40k using a D&D format. Obviously concepts of both sides of the table will be mixed together, and hopefully it should turn out very well (hopefully as good as the "Robot Wars" Rules i recently wrote) So what i am doing is organizing a regular group of gamers interested in playing a 40k version of D&D. It will be more structured like D&D just with 40k concepts and fluff, meaning alot more roleplaying of a game than just single model battle reports and what not. It will be used in vassal (all the models are there, and dice can easily be rolled) and also vassal is free and open accessible to all users. One thing though is that it would be best that we were all available at similar times. Being in the same time zone isnt a necessity as some people in america might have daytime freetime where aussies might have night...as long as there is a decent handful of hours we can all spare ![]() I would like the gaming group size between 3-7ish including DM. I would love to DM, but if someone else would like to than i am happy to share the DM role (I create and DM one weeks game, you create and DM the next weeks game. While we arent DMing we are a character) Generally the playstyle will be a few missions with characters, and then a completely new campaign playing as new characters in another race in a different handful of missions. For example one month you might have 3 or 4 weeks as imperial guard, and the next a few missions of ork kommandos with some infiltratin and assassinating attempts. This might even change every week, more episodic than traditional 40k D&D which is different to the kind of gameplay you can get from other 40k versions of D&D where you spend a year building up your character. So if you are interested, send me a PM, and include any questions you have too. If you just want to comment, thats what this thread is for! Cheers Lord Zambia

Can I play without knowing D&D rules? On my side, I do know Inquisitor, which I have heard is similar...

I'm game, though D&D requires a lot of dice types, not just D6s, so I don't see how Vassal will help in that regard.

Hmm- I've never played D&D...
I think I'd enjoy such role-playing shenanigans though... :P So I'd jump in- if it weren't for one problem... My time zone and college classes could cause major issues- since I'm in the US and all... ![]() So coordination could be quite tricky if I got involved- but maybe we can figure something out when we start suggesting times to go through with this. Also- where would I find the Vassal 40k client? The site that originally hosted it seems to be gone...

Hey More Dakka!
Thanks for the interest. I am going to be looking in the background of alot of 40k armies HEAPS more so we roleplay as not only guard and marines, but perhaps Tau, Ork, Eldar/Dark Eldar, etc. Will have a lot of potential. As for timezones, what i might do eventually is post a table where i am currently free. (This may be hard because my working days change each week) but it depends on when your collage classes is to mine. Darth Riah (the other current interest thus far) is in my suburb too, so thats not a problem, we are usually on night-times, though Darth is usually in bed b4 me :P We will work out our own free time eventually...even if we have a couple of hours in a single session a week, thats ample (especially for me as DM where i need to WRITE interesting missions :P) Anyways i'll keep you posted...As for vassal i might be able to help you obtain it ![]() Zambia

Yeah... don't do that. Seriously, do not allow any race but Human. 40K is not a setting where aliens can be readily accepted.

What if I could be... *gasp* A GENESTEALER?!? ![]() Barring that- I might go for being a Dark Eldar... :P But the shenanigans would be even more fun if just about every race was allowed... :P

No, it would be retarded to allow other races.
The only race you can realistically allow are Kroot, as they are the only ones who are truly mercenary (ie: working purely for pay, not because of their own personal agenda). Even then, including Kroot would incur the wrath of various Imperial organisations. In simple terms, you have to say "no" because 40K DOESN'T WORK THE WAY YOU SEEM TO THINK IT DOES! Go read some fluff before demanding to be a Space Elf in a 40K game.
