Default Nation States Role Play

Since some of us have decided to partake in the creation and management of a contry in Nation States I have decided to create a post based on Nation States Role Play.

I suggest we discuss how we should implement an RP section to the model. e.g. How are we going to conduct trade agreements and/or warfare. Will this be done in real time or as a series of word battles?

Are we going to have to create additional state to reflect our nations such as millitray bugget equipment. Infrastructure, region map?

Here's a small, unrefined, unifinshed outline I have. Nations must post to state their policies, irrespective of their national description in some cases, on the following areas:

Healthcare: NHS, Private, or mixed?
Education: State only, Private only, or mixed? Is high school compulsory? Is high school state funded? Is further education state funded?
Military:
-Doctrine. Mechanised infantry
-Stance. Pacifist, Self-Defence, Passive, Standard, Agressive, Offensive, Imperialst
-R&D
-Training
-Branches
Virtually Standard:
--Army
Very Common
--Navy
--Air Force
Fairly Common
--Marines
-Coastguard
Uncommon
-Air Defence
-Sea Defence

Trade
-Manufacturing
--Your Industries
--Your Natural Resources (Start With and Survey. Survey twice cost of start with, counts as event)
-Export (Requires successufl trade agreement event)
-Import (As above)
-Agriculture. Agricultural products as natural resources

Money and Budget: Moeny earnd per day decided by tax rate. Money per week is pop times a certain amount plus bonuses or penalties


Trade: Your economy score plus GDP score plus population score is the amount you can import and export. Say, economy = good is 7, you can trade 7 units of an item, and buy 7 of another

Marketplace. Produce can be sold on a regional market rather than direct trade. Prices are decided by the availability rating of an item on the market. Player may volunteer to run the marketplace as a DM.

Events: A third party will be a DM of sorts for events. A war sees the attacker and the defender both select a war conductor, who will perhaps roll a dice or something.

Self Selected Events include:
Middle events . 1 bad, 4 okay, 1 good
Good/Bad. 2 bad, 2 okay, 2 good
Great/Disastrous events. 4 Good/Bad, 1 of other 2

GOOD: Something good happens, like a disocvery of a resource.
Okay: slightly good, though occassionally also slightly bad.
Bad: disasters, terroism, etc.

War: between 2 or more players, a neutral force DM's. Other nations may be drawn in. May be an invasion, a crisis escalation, a raid. Depending on the type, short term and overall objectives are set. EG, invasion, short term by the next day, to have captured at least 5% of the enemy nation. Long term, end of hostilities/peace talks, to have captured 25% of the nation, inc. produced items.

Talks: Peace, Trade, Alliance (Military, Economic)

Empires: If invaded, you may become an empire. You lose control of some things and pay a tithe, but may rebel...

What else could be put in and given rules?

Nice ideas. Based on what I know about my contry so far;

+++Transmission Commencing+++

Imperial survey crews have compiled a dossier on social-economic conditions with in the USSILM (The United Socialist States of Iron Lands of Mars).

History and Background:
The USSILM is a fictional country roughly based around the 40k universe. It takes the position of a ‘what if?’ scenario of a whole section of Mars being transferred through time and space into the universe of nation states. As such I built the country around that of 40k originally, however this will change over time to reflect my personal feelings on the issues raised in Nation States.

In the few days since the USSILM dropped out of the sky onto the region of Hatskanimashinaniyuppistanogan, squishing a couple of cows, it has trouble dealing with the waves of heretics who have rebelled against the original leaders. In the wake of the rebellion thousands were killed by the countries new military, the ILMCA (Iron Lands of Mars Combined Army). The new USSILM as it has come to call itself is a region leader in cheese production relying on heavily worked labourers. Apart from this black market there is an ever increasing output of loo roll to neighbouring regions. However their response to these markets has yet to be taken up leading to a surplus of goods

Healthcare: NHS All healthcare is state owned with only the ‘genetically superior’ gaining access to treatment. In terms of healthcare only the physically injured are generally treated, with mental illness and genetic or disease disorders being met with ‘elimination from the gene pool’.

Education: State schooling is given to all students from a 4 till 16. At this point students are either conscripted into apprentice positions or they are state funded to go into a further education program run by the ruling party. These students spend the next 4 years studying their field in detail before being displaced to do a further 4 years of compulsory fieldwork. Only those who complete this period of education can become a party member. Those in the party hold nearly complete power over ‘lesser’ civilians. At all times during a students schooling the party re-enforces the need to ‘work and learn’ for the party almost to levels of subliminal propaganda, however internal reports have been inconclusive and those who monitor state media have been known to ‘disappear’

Military:
-Doctrine. The ILMCA reserve a small professional military of a few thousand. However with the recent rebellions all civilians are required to undergo a period of military service during the years of 16-19. This is designed to ‘prepare youth for the world’ and is both character building and important to bond the community together. As a side benefit those who ‘cannot keep up’ (Or fat people) are ‘eliminated from service’.

-Stance. The ILMCA was set up in a Self-Defence roll and it sticks by the mantra of ‘protect the innocent’. However it is debateable who these ‘innocents’ are.

-R&D The ILMCA is extremely technophobic of new technology seeing much of this new world as magic. They are unwilling to invest in new technology preferring equipment and construction techniques they brought with them from the 41st millennium. However some of this technology is highly advanced compared to this new world they find themselves in.

-Military Branches
ILMCA-IC (Infantry corps, made up of the conscript populace and hardened military personal.

ILMCA-AC (Aeronautica corps, this is the air force of the USSILM very adept at conducting ground support missions, although few in number)

-Manufacturing
--USSILM Industries
---Cheese production, Loo roll production, standard Patten sheet steel.

--Your Natural Resources
---As of yet the country has been unable to survey this new world and so is lacking natural resources other than an abundance of wood and wombats.

Money and Budget: Current input of Dung into the USSILM per week: $2,226.50 x 7 x 0.66 = $7167.72 = ~(Dung) 597.31 (Conversion rate is 12)

History and Background:
Founded by a party of drunken Cossacks in 1736, The Grand Duchy of Poopodoopistan has a long history of bloody revolutions, perverted fairy tales, and unhinged despots with names like "Orgatov The Date Rapist" and "Ivan The Sadomasochist". In 1926, A Popular Uprising deposed Boris The Y'xauktard and replaced the old system of psychotic despotism with a new system of psychotic Dictatorship. This government lasted until 1977, when a small group of determined revolutionaries blew up the dictators house and declared the nation a Free Republic. Recently, the popular Free Vodka Party has seized control and turned the country into a Militaristic Oligarchy bent on spreading their ideology of political repression, Punk fandom, and free fur hats to the rest of the region.

National Anthem: Droogs Don't Run by Cock Sparrer
National Motto: Cossacks Are Awesome! Green Day Sucks!
National animal: Chinchilla of Doom

Healthcare: Healthcare, like most other services, is controlled by the government and provided to it's citizenry at rates inversely proportional to how poor the patient is, meaning that the rich are forced to pay more for medical services.

Education: Education in poopodoopistan is limited mostly to math, History, and science. Intelligent design and creationism are banned and prayer in schools, while not officially banned, is frowned upon. The main focus of the educational system is to produce well informed, but loyal citezens who are equally qualified for both Blue and White collar jobs. The most intelligent pupils are organized into cadres where they are groomed to become leaders in the milltary, the government, or the private sector.

Millitary:
-Doctrine: The Grand Peoples Army of Poopodoopistan has been reduced to a cadre of 900 hardened veterans from it's previous incarnations due to budgetary shortages, but the population at large is legally obligated to resist any foriegn invasion by any means possible. The most poweful of these unofficial millitias are the Cossacks, savage cavlrymen from the steppes who are renowned for thier skill at guerrila warfare.

-Stance: For now, the milltary has taken on a defensive stance, but harbors regional milltary ambitions.

-R&D: The recent Budget cutbacks have left the milltary with only enough funds to maintain what little equipment it has left, but deals with black market arms dealers have made sure that the army is still supplied with reliable (if slightly outdated) equipment.

-Milltary Branches
-Grand Peoples Army of Poopodoopistan: Hardened veteran soldiers supplemented by conscripts in times of emergency.

-The Cossacks: semi-regular Guerrila fighters operating outside the official milltary structure.

-Civl Defence Corp: Official Government millita/police force in charge of training and organizing additional millitas in times of crisis.

Well, I think I will just wait for the exact format of writing a nation here in TO. But it would be good to have some guidelines on how to write your history section.

Well, since I have nothing much to do today, I decided to make my own nation's stuff.


History

The lands of Mephiston have been ruled by the Sakilin Dynasty since the beginning of the 12th centuries. For hundreads of years, the rich wasted their wealth upon themselves, while the poor have nothing but hard work and the clothes on their back. Although there have been many insurgencies over the the years, but more often than not, the uprisings have often been suppressed using the Imperial Army. However, that will change with the arrival of Marxism in the nation, and with the arrival of Marxism the greatest hero of the Mephiston's underclass was born, Andreyev Kalininovich Sergetov, also known to the rest of the world as Pravda.(Hope)

Born to a family of scholars on 31st december 1870, Andrevey have in him the instinct to be a scholar, and he graduated from the University of Czar Sakhalin IV (Now known as the The People's University of Mephiston) with a masters in philosophy in 1890. However, it is this time that he have come to know the idealogy known as Marxism. Even though he initially regard Marxism as an stupid ideal, but he embraced the ideal wholeheartedly after an incident where he saw the peasants being gunned down by the Imperial troopers just because they are digging the rubbish for food.

Throughout the years from 1900-1914, he joined the underground Mephiston's People Party, and rose up to the ranks through his charisma and his no-nonsence attitude, and with his natural gift for speaking he is able to get the majority of the lower classes of Mephiston to join the party. But the spark that will lead to the "Black November Revolution" will be caused ironically by the Czarist goverment themselves, where the Imperail Guard of the Czarist Mephiston shoot over 100 women and children in the Faust Squatters area now known as the "Death of the Roses". With the wheels of destiny started turning, the Mephiston People's Party (MPP) began to wage a revolution on July 4th, 1915

Throughout the entire nation, a gruelling 4-year civil war ignited and the worst fighting is centered at the capital of Mephiston, Faustiv. On December 31st 1919, on Kravda's 44th birthday the Mephiston peasants were able to storm and take hold of the Czar's palace, finally bringing hope back to the peasants of Mephiston. The newly created government of United Socialist States of the Mephiston Republic was born on January 1st, 1920.

Even though they have finally acquired their freedom, but the worst is yet to come. On August 20th, 1930 Pravda was assasinated by a Czarist loyalist. Hisbody was paraded througohout Faustiv, and over a million Mephistons paid their last respects for the man before he was placed inside the Pravda Mauseleum. His embalmed body is now being displayed in the Kravda Mauseleum.

Healthcare: Healthcare is given to all the citizens of the Mephiston republic, as the government believes that in order to keep their ideals alive, the peasants must get the best care.

Education: The majority of the education systems in Mephiston are state-owned, although there are a few ptrivate institutions for the more specialized discipline. Preschool, Primary school, secondary education , and tertiatry education are compulsary, and all stages of the goverment are funded by the government. After tertiatry education, national service is compulsary for all able-bodied man and woman.

Military
Doctrine: Combined arms, guerrila warfare
Stance. Agressive self defense

R&D
The Mephiston's military research is one of the most intenase in the region, with at least 4 or 5 new military-related innovations per year. The greatest achievements of the R&D department of the Mephiston's Militray Research Corp includes

1)Vladimir-class submarine aircraft carrier: The first submarine aircraft carrier

2) Nikolai Ni-23 Farshot fighter aircraft: One of the most agile dogfighting aircraft in the region

3)AV-36 (Avtomat Vaiskyanova 1936) : Assault rifle

4)T- 78 : The most heavily protected tank in Northern Hatskanimashinaniyuppistanogan, armed with 130 mm smoothbore autoloader gun.

Currently, the Mephiston goverment is trying to improve all branches of their armed forces with new technology to further adpat themselves for the coming 21st century.

-Training: Each army personnel are trained for a basic of 2 years, followed by another 3 years in the respective branches of the armed forces.

Branches of The Mephiston Republic People's Army
1)The Mephiston Republic People's Army - Ground forces (MRPA -GF)

One of the largest part of the MRPA, it have at least 1000000 personnel, along with big numbers of armoured vehicles, Main battle tanks and other assorted ground warfare equipment.

2)The Mephiston Republic People's Army - Naval Forces (MRPA -NF)

Although Mephiston have a rather small navy, but it is quite advanced and with the introduction of the Vladimir-class Submarine carriers, the Mephiston navy is shifting from a brown water navy to a blue water navy.

Curently, the navy have over 60 warships and over 700,000 personnel

3)The Mephiston Republic People's Army - Air forces (MRPA - AF)

One of the most advanced air force in Northern Hatskanimashinaniyuppistanogan, the air force have over 600,000 personel and over 100 aircrafts

4)The Mephiston Republic People's Army - Rocket forces (MRPA - RF)

The newly formed military branch of the MRPA, the missile are currently equipped with both Fuel Air Bombs and also Nuclear warheads. Number of staff and missiles unknown.

Silly as it sounds, is this stuff just being made up? Or is it based on stuff from nationstates, as there's loads of posts on nationstates about trading, is it just RP or is it like moving stuff around, as I am really blimming lost at the mo.
