Doe anyone find it alarming how many of these plot are having to be foiled to keep Islamic terrorists from blowing themselves and everyone else up? I mean our security forces are doing a grand job, but how long until a small group of these bastards slips through the net (again)? :-\ Edit - Lol, I realised I wrote Ilamic at first - which looks like Llama terrorists. :P

Just be glad the shoe bomber didn't hide the explosives somewhere...more private.

I honestly don't find the current rate that alarming. Compared with terrorism in Ireland or the Middle East, these plots are a lot more complicated, and because of this they are more vulnerable to law enforcement attention. They are problematic even when they are stopped, though. The two plots since 9/11 actually did a lot of damage despite being halted without hurting anyone directly. What happens when someone decides to build a bomb that looks exactly like cell phone or laptop components? Will we not be allowed to carry electronics on planes any more? Or any luggage at all?

Khanaris if they ever did that, I would actually blow my lid and I would be certainly drumming up support at my university to go and picket Westminster along with all the other international students in the country. Don't care if its for my protection. I'm willing to take the risk! Gen

I can't speak as I've not lost anyone to a terror attack (thank gods) but IMO, I think that terrorism is more of a threat to our way of living than actual lives.
Like Gen said - they can only go so far "for your safety" before it becomes too much. Obviously, I might think differently if I had lost someone to a terror attack.

I'd rather die in an exploding plane than deal with airport security. Liberty or Death!
That said, I like to avoid the airlines at all costs. If I don't have to deal with that kind of crap, I won't. It's my right as a consumer. So screw you airlines!

Ok new question. Does anyone find it amusing that Gen is more sickened at the prospect of laptops being banned on planes than drinks.

Khanaris took the words out of my mouth. Terrorists don't need to kill to win. They already made our (flying) lives a lot worse.
We are now surrounded with paranoia to the point where bottles of water and ipods are considered dangerous (I'll see if I can find the article about electronics being searched for national security). |

Really, not that is a bad thing in this case, in the UK you are guilty until proven innocent and they can just keep retrying you? It says they may be attempting to try the 3 who where found not guilty for a third time.
Is there a double jeopardy standard in the UK?
