Hey all, we kind of got side-tracked on another thread and started discussing hot rocks (global warming). This thread should be devoted to that.
![]() I'll start it off... I think "part" of the Global Warming situation is a hoax because: 1. The planet cycles through periods of hot/cold stages quite predictably, even in the absence of man-made pollutions. This includes glaciation and desertification. 2. Nearly none of the theories regarding Global Warming mention the 1500 to 2000 *new*, large undersea volcanoes rapidly rising the overall temperature of our oceans. 3. Nearly none of the theories accurately effectively weighs the impending possibility of a polar shift. This is caused naturally by earth's very own motions. Even a partial shift of a few degrees can alter temperatures - rising in one area, falling in another. 4. The abrupt stoppage of all fossil fuel exhaust fumes worldwide would still only equal roughly one quarter to one third of the "greenhouse" gasses in question. Cows will still flatulate. Low-water methane pockets will still erupt. Forest fires will still pop on and off as they please. AND THE MAGNETIC PROPERTIES of the Earth and Sun will always fluctuate. Simply put, the Earth changes all of the time because it must. Now, that being said - Obviously, the planet IS getting warmer and we ARE polluting. We can only stop ONE of those things, and we should at all costs. Discuss 8) |

Good stuff, man.
Another thing is Michael Chrichton's book... uh, whatever it's called. About global warming. Did anyone else find it slightly rediculous? I mean really, saying that global warming doesn't exist at all? Despite every evidence to the contrary? Don't get me wrong I love his other books, but he needs to stop with the conspiracies. It's almost as bad as the crazies who maintain we never landed on the moon. As Wanax (I think) said in the other thread. We, as humans are being pretty egotistical to think that we are solely responsible for the Earth. She does what she wants. |

Stopping It would be a good idea, heck even a great one but the problem is global wraming has its roots in the governments of most countries
Example: in africa many governments are burning their oil reserves because they have no use for it and they dod not want attention about them having oil reseverves in their country. Which is bad for the Ozone and things like that. Not to sound like a downer but we can slow gobal warming down and maybe even stop it but by then the damage will have already have been done.

And there's the fact that the countries causing the most pollution are those that refuse to stop polluting, to avoid their fat wallets becoming thin.

Yeah. and the thing about global warming melting the ice burgs and caps, causing the water level to rise is false.
Water takes up more space when frozen so if it melts the water level will stay the same anyway ^-^

Global warming is a natural occurence. However, pollution is causing it to happen faster than it should. Global warming will become our children's problem, rather than our great-grandchildren's problem.
