Re: Reinventing the Necrons

Bearing in mind that the Necrontyr were the only ones who asked for that deal, I'd say there's no problem with them using slave-fighters in their armies. And in any case, their fluff can be changed...

Re: Reinventing the Necrons

That's a pretty cool idea - how about captured slave humans become troop chices? They'd really just be Imperial Guardsman but maybe change their gun so they're more distinctive.

The change in...

Re: Reinventing the Necrons

We can't change Living Metal to only affect Lance Weapons, it would be unfair on the users of Lance Weapons while it does nothing to anyone else. As such it should not be done.

The idea of Gauss...

Re: Reinventing the Necrons

That would be a good idea, as a player I'm sick to death of seeing the same Necron armies(Warriors/ResLords/Monoliths with maybe a few Immortals/Destroyers) and I'd love to see a few Flayed Ones or...

Re: Reinventing the Necrons

I'll concede that point - but don't you feel that a combination of Phase-Out/WBB/Gauss rules severely limit which units many Necrons will take?

Re: Reinventing the Necrons

At what point do FnP and WBB differ - bar WBB being better. All I'm saying is that the WBB roll should be changed to directly after the failed save. It'll relieve the tedium of waiting for the Necron...

Re: Reinventing the Necrons

Giving the Necrons FnP instead of WBB will simplify the game as there will be no more contentious issues such as Fall Back.

As it is, they're pretty much undead marines with Gauss. In fact I'd...

Re: Reinventing the Necrons

WBB is not unique and does not make Necrons fun to play against. WBB is an altered version of FnP.
Similiarly, considering the sheer mass of firepower required to kill even the most basic of Necron...

Re: Reinventing the Necrons

But two Monoliths would be a good idea, though the supporting one might be very similiar to a Tomb Spyder seeing as how most of its support action stems from the resurrection of other Necrons(and is...

Re: Reinventing the Necrons

What, did you want to bring other anti tank weapons against necrons???
useless :D

Re: Reinventing the Necrons

Living metal is powerful, but it is not broken, because high strength weaponry still works, and with the exception of a few odd army lists (Salamanders space marines for one) few armies lack the...

Re: Reinventing the Necrons

LGT is right - to say that an army that is incapable of taking down a Monolith lacks anti-tank is to broad a statement to be fair.

Eldar can't reliably take down a Monolith - Lance Weapons and...

Re: Reinventing the Necrons

But surely you'd use a relatively common sample of a full squad. I mean, the whole point of statistics such as this is that they be applied to situations we can actually experience.

I mean, is...

Re: Reinventing the Necrons

I don't have enough experience with Necrons to suggest anything meaningful regarding how they might be improved - but I would like to point out that this is not actually accurate, for two reasons:

Re: Reinventing the Necrons

He means that statistically, they have a 2+ save.

As long as they get WBB and their save, they have (1/3 x 1/2 = 1/6) 1/6 chance of dieing after taking a wound.

This is analogous to a 2+ save.

Re: Reinventing the Necrons

That's what I'm talking about - more variety in Army Lists: SM/IG/CSM/Tau have Heavy Weapons, Nids have biomorphs(though the cost may be questionably low in some cases), so why is it that the only...

Re: Reinventing the Necrons

That doesn't say anything. Games depend on player style and unit choises. You said you lost because of the necron tactic. So, that's a reason you lost. Maybe you answered his tactic wrong. What...

Re: Reinventing the Necrons

For phase-out to kick in at all, 75% of the units with the Necron rule are already gone. Simply losing the other 25% wouldn't be much of a penalty. As was indicated earlier, Phase-out is why units...

Re: Reinventing the Necrons

Does anyone else think they should change phase out. They could change it so that instead of Phase-Out=AutoWin, they could change it so that phase out would get rid of all units with the Necron...

Re: Reinventing the Necrons

My argument about the vehicle killing power of necron warriors:

Within 12", a squad of 10 necrons will get just over two glances on an average round of fire.

Over 12", they get half that IF...

Re: Reinventing the Necrons

IMO, the problem w/ the monolith/ the res orb is that, depending on the pointage of the game, they're either too costy or too cheap.

In higher point games, a res orb is well worth the poins but...
