Re: Hull mounted or not hull mounted?? That is the Question

Agreed. It is much more usefull when they describe how things are mounted. how hard is it to designate hull mounted, sponson mounted or turret mounted with each weapon? ???

But even in past books...

Re: Rules Question on falling back, what determines doubling back?

Well, a couple things come into play. First, you have to move the tank shocking vehicle. Once it comes in contact the enemy rolls morale. since they fail to pause the tank just as it touches the unit...

Re: Militaristic "Ranks" of the 40k races

I think there is already a 40K RPG in print. ;)

But to try to help you out regarding eldar.

Eldar don't mention a whole lot of ranks per se. They don't match up with your typical private, sgt,...

Re: Hull mounted or not hull mounted?? That is the Question

The fact that a weapons is hull-mounted in one book means nothing for other books. 5th Edition books have largely gotten away from the term "hull-mounted" in general, replacing fixed arcs for things...

Re: Hull mounted or not hull mounted?? That is the Question

I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings. But let's break down what you said.

Incorrect. The assault cannon cannot rotate 360 because the model limits it from shooting to the side and back.

the...

Re: Holding objectives

As long as you are following the rules on pg 34 this is OK. But if you can get into Base to base or within 2" of a model in base to base you have to. So if those back 3 or 4 not in Base can get...

Re: Hull mounted or not hull mounted?? That is the Question

OK, got a chance to dig into some more rules and codexes. Here is some information.

The Templar codex (pg 42) lists the twin-linked HB & the T-L Asscannons as hull mounted. Per pg 59 of the main...

Re: Hull mounted or not hull mounted?? That is the Question

First and foremost check your codex. Depending on what codex you are using they are indeed described as hull mounted.

I checked two of my codexes (that were nearby) and one says hull mounted...

Re: "They Shall Follow No Rules", so how do you beat them?

It is not a "Marine" problem that you are facing. It is a "Tau" problem.

I.E. the Tau codex is old and made for a different rule set and metagame.

Codex issues is why I have more than one...

Re: Sticking it to the Codex - on 'Codex' and 'Deviant' Chapters

Nice article and interesting read.

I agree with the statement above. I think of the codex kinda like the bible and the chapters like different sects of Christianity. It has some core ideas, but...

Re: Outflanking

Oh, I would totally do this in a friendly game. I would set up my kroot. See the look on my buddy's face and we would both laugh about it and then I would start over and set them up somewhere more...

Re: Outflanking

I did not realise there was a rule that stated this. Could you let me know where you found this?

Re: Eldar Weapons and Confusions

And I know they are not technically an aspect, but they do take a niche in the eldar list.

Harlequins. To me they kinda fit in between scorps and banshees, but give us yet another CC unit.

Re: Outflanking

Nobody knows. There are no rules for this scenario.

Obviously if they are not skimmers (or something similar that moves over terrain & models) or tanks (that could tank shock) they cannot move on....

Re: Eldar Weapons and Confusions

Ding! Ding!

That is the problem. What niche would a new aspect fill within the army?

The only one I could possibly think of is an aspect that drives the vehicles giving them BS4 and maybe some...

Re: [Modelling] Space Wolves - All Bolters for Grey Hunters or chainswords +bolters?

Mix and Match! As long as you only give them weapons they actually have.

Of course you will want to model any special weapons like powerswords, meltaguns, etc.

Re: Eldar Weapons and Confusions

What unit or fluff would you be basing the need for a plasmagun or multimelta on?

Eldar units are pretty straightforward on what they can and cannot use. I am trying to think of any 2nd edition...

Re: Cover Caveat

First, the defenders don't get a benefit. The attackers get a penalty.

If you think of it this way then add in the terrain test and it makes more sense.

i.e. It is all about the assaulters. The...

Re: Rules for model conversions

With the current codex and rules a winged autarch is relatively useless.

The main reason to give him wings would be to hunt tanks or get him into CC faster, but he would need a supporting unit...

Re: Rules for model conversions

This.

Except larger bases and models can give you advantages, too. So I would try to use the same base size.

@ OP: My personal feeling was that warlocks on fast moving jetbikes probably would...

Re: ATSKNF and chasing units

GW battle reports are a terrible place to get rules. They break there own rules all the time. They are as bad as calling the so called "Roolz Boyz". ::)

GW battle reports are staged anyways to...

Re: The Million Dollar Question - The timing of Going to Ground

Could you help "clarify" the other RAW problems in the DE codex like some of the ones i stated in my last post?

Re: Bone Singers and Healers

Probably the same thing when a strike force of marines is completely wiped out. They send in another force to get the bodies.

Though realistically in war it is pretty rare to completely wipe out...

Re: The Million Dollar Question - The timing of Going to Ground

If you guys do not want to argue what the written rules (RAW) says and go with how you feel it should work and play with house rules then there is nothing I can do to change that. If that is how you...

Re: The Million Dollar Question - The timing of Going to Ground

I am not making up a term. I am just using a word in the English language, but I can define it more clearly. The "effect" of a terrorfex is the Leadership test and pinning it causes. The effect of a...
