Re: Battle Tanks Done Right

Then I don't think you appreciate the protective capabilities of Power Armor or the toughness of an Ork or Tyranid. We are talking about relative advantages, not absolute comparisons. Close combat...

Re: October: A Mystery Box Once More?

Could be Warhammer Quest. That was always popular, and it would be as easy to release as Space Hulk.

Re: Codex Deamonhunters and Witchhunters now available...

They have probably made it easier for tournament organizers with this, though. It is easy enough for Adepticon or even local Rogue Trader events to specify that only the pdf will apply, and thereby...

Re: BA FAQ from GW is online

About the random selection? Not sure why it would be needed, unless you can't trust gamers to understand how dice work.

If you have three sergeants, you use a d3. If you have six, you assign each...

Re: Whining about the cost of the hobby...

Is Kendo the swords with the bamboo thingies on them so they snap really loud when they hit stuff? If that's the case then armor is for sissies because I have use those things before and we smacked...

Re: Battle Tanks Done Right

But normal humans aren't issued with Power Weapons in any significant quantities... Where they are, it is generally individuals who require a better chance of survival if close combat happens. A...

Re: Battle Tanks Done Right

Not that simple, probably. If it was possible to mass-produce power weapons, they would be. It may not be possible to just make a crude power weapon and have it work. But the Imperium didn't put...

Re: Battle Tanks Done Right

Power Weapons are made by artisans, from what I understand. For an officer to have a Power Weapon, you might be talking about something that was passed down in his family or with the regiment for...

Re: Blood Angels

If you are playing Kill Points, you wouldn't use it. This would only be for cases where you were trying to keep the fighting away from Objectives or a specific Table Quarter. Not saying any of these...

Re: What do you want to see in the next codex?

You were saying that it is improbable that we will see the weapons change significantly, right? I wasn't disagreeing with you. I was just thinking out loud about how much the models could change if...

Re: What do you want to see in the next codex?

I don't know. At the moment I am thinking a little more along the lines of the redone Sentinel. Something that doesn't change the basic design all that much but adds new options and makes it easier...

Re: Blood Angels

It might be possible to use Kroot as an active speedbump. Charging Blood Angels isn't going to do very much, but if you move within 1" and stop with a thin back layer of Kroot, you force him to...

Re: FoC for 40K: What 'should' it be

More than two of the same entry, regardless of numbers or equipment. Although 40k being what it is, I would say four of the same entry in Troops, two of the same entry in Elites, Fast Attack, or...

Re: A quick question about chapter strength

I can not recall ever hearing of survivors being "merged" into another Chapter, so you would need to explore that idea. My understanding is that if they dropped below a certain amount of Geneseed...

And the Redeemer can Deep Strike, negating the normal disadvantage its close range poses in the other Marine books.

Re: Tyranid FAQ is here

I think that one is more of a core mechanics problem. With low natural armor and a lot of scuttlers, Tyranids benefit a great deal from cover. So it seems fair that opponents like Guard would be able...

Re: Battle Tanks Done Right

Of course. But lasguns/autoguns can't do so consistently, and even bolters and Pulse Rifles are not terribly reliable. So opponents tend to get a lot closer than you would want.

That distance...

Re: Tyranid FAQ is here

It should. The ability to make everyone else I1 all the time is a lot better than the ability to make yourself I10 in the first turn of combat, particularly if your natural Initiative is high enough...

Re: FoC for 40K: What 'should' it be

I would certainly like to see the limitations on duplicate units make it over to 40k, just to finish off those ridiculous BoLS-style unit spam lists.

Re: "They Shall Follow No Rules", so how do you beat them?

The Dark Angels book is in the same category as the Tau in terms of viability. I usually throw Necrons in there as well. Dark Eldar and Eldar were both strange enough to begin with that their unique...

Re: Tyranid FAQ is here

The section that allows you to put characters into units and their transports prior to the game is in the main rulebook.

I think they are just dedicated to the idea that this thing really isn't a...

Re: Blood Angels

Hard to come up with a lot of good advice. The Blood Angels are fairly well balanced against other 5th Edition books. They have nice toys, but they pay a lot for them. And their generic units are...

Re: Tyranid FAQ is here

Probably more fair, though. They pay points for Furious Charge and their wargear just like Tyranids pay for theirs. No reason the Tyranid rule should always take precedence. This way all special...

Re: Tyranid FAQ is here

I am very, very impressed with this FAQ. Completely overrode all of the silliness with Spirit Leech, but it also cleared up everything related to Deep-striking with Wings and Tyrant Guard. It has...
