Default Scythican's Miniature Blog (Warriors of Chaos, Trygon Prime, and Plague Marines)

Okay I figured I might want to go ahead and start a Project Log of all my stuff. I am going to put all my Tyranids in here eventually, but for now I want to start with something fresh. I am finally getting around to painting my Warriors of Chaos army. (I have a bad habit of buying models, assembling them and then moving onto something else before they are painted).

I have started on a handful of the WoC, but they are still WIP at the moment. I am trying out some new techniques (with the help of Thantos' Reclusiam Painting thread). I have attempted some source lighting and some freehand. Let me know what you think of these.

Some Freehand Ghost Teeth:

Somemore Freehand type stuff:

Attempting Source Lighting:

Archaon, The Everchosen (Lost the head so I made him a new one. Making him Look like General Kael from Willow 1988):

Cool freehand, I like the first knight the best.

Could use of all those open areas on the knights though, makes them interesting.

The freehand is quite nice, but the bone lets it down somewhat.
The red knight has the feel of a mounted samurai ;D
First one is most definitely in the feel of chaos. Try being a little lighter on the freehand though, build it up more and take your time to get smoother transitions and sharper edges.
Still, nice work.

It won't for long. That was just a base coat of bone. Plan on adding more to it later. Still got to paint the horse's fur more too.

As for the smoother transitions, I really took my time with the back of the armour (The large sections), but the other sections had less put into them. They were so small, I could barely paint the teeth in them.

I plan on doing something to that effect on all of my knights. And I like the first knight best too. I have spent more on him than the others, (heck the red knight only has freehand on half of him...)

I really like the Khorne Knight. It sort of has an Aztec feel to it. Probably pretty suiting for the Blood God. Awesome free hand.

The freehand ghost teeth is pretty epic and looks like a great start to the army, I particularly like the head swap on Archaon, accidently or not.

Always a pleasure to see you work.

Do you think I need to add some actually blood to him as well?

Always a pleasure to recieve your comments! I guess I need to put my nurgle monstrosity aside and paint some more on these guys. So you like the headswap too? Did you ever see willow? I tried my best to make him look like General Kael. Also I got my wife painting some of these guys now. She is painting one with some purple colours and is thinking about doing freehand lightning. I will post some of that one too!

Wow you made a willow refrence....just wow.

BTW ghost teeth are awsome and the red is great. Not sold on the source lighting (never been a fan of that personally)

I really liked that movie. I have wanted to make a mini of General Kael for a few years now. I am glad you noticed the reference.

As for the others, I am glad you liked the ghost teeth too. They seem to be everyone's favorites. As for the source lighting, I am thinking about doing some free hand runes to go with it. Maybe that will help that one out some? What do you think?
