Default Silk Vs 1shot1kill

Well allow me to introduce both mine and 1shot's project log. We both wanted to start making (or expand in my case) an army - and we decided to combine the project log as a way to encourage each other into actually finishing and not get distracted.

Anyways - we both ended up wanting to muck around with orks and this is the result. 1shot can tell you about his plans but my plans are to expand my 1000 point ork army into a 2000 point army - Flash gitz, scratchbuilt battlewagon and trukks are all on the ideas table but nothing overly solid.

Expect from both of us a load of conversions, a good number of tutorials and maybe a battle report or two.

Hope you enjoy reading as much as we will making.

Well, as Silk has stating, we're having what you may call an Orkoff. If you're going to be intimidated by a lot of green, a fair amount of orktalk, and an unhealthy dose of silliness, I suggest you leave now.
In any case...

We're both going to be converting, modelling, painting, and pretty much anything else there is to do for 1,000 points. While Silk doesn't quite have a set list yet, I do, and here it is. Mind you, this is based off of the Black Reach set - I only need to buy 20 more boyz and I'll have this entire army. I made the text smaller so that those of you not interested in the list can just skip it.

HQ:
Warboss
Big Choppa
Attack Squig
Cybork Body
110 pts.

TROOPS:
13x ‘Ard Boyz
Rokkit Launcha
1x ‘Ard Nob
Big Choppa
159 pts.

19x Boyz
2x Rokkit Launchas
1x Nob
Big Choppa
149 pts.

5x Nobz
5x ‘Eavy Armor
5x Big Choppa
150 pts.

FAST ATTACK:
Deffkopta
TL Rokkit Launcha
40 points

Deffkopta
TL Rokkit Launcha
40 points

Deffkopta
TL Rokkit Launcha
40 points

HEAVY SUPPORT
9x Flash Gitz
Painboy
More Dakka
330 pts.

So that's my big bad list of greenskins, totaling at around 1003 points. I'll be working on this bit by bit as much as I can, and hopefully with the creation of this thread, this army will go by more smoothly than my other ones.

So let me start where silk left off.

That is perhaps even an understatement. Those of you who hang around chat probably have heard me talking about this ork army for quite some time, and until a day ago it was all just unorganized thoughts.
My ork army will be themed. It will be original, silly, and fun. Let me introduce...
The Mafiorks.

While I haven't quite worked out the fluff (and I really can't say I ever will, it's not the easiest concept to logically explain) my orks will be mostly based off of 1920's era mobsters. Tommy guns, fedoras, pinstripe suits and enormous cigars - the whole deal. It's gonna be a lot of fun, and hopefully it'll be enjoyable to watch as well, but it's also going to be by far the most challenging project I've taken on. I'll be learning along the way, and I'm always open to suggestions.

Again, probably a month or two into this (or maybe longer or shorter, depending on how long it takes for me to get a hang of this army) I'll be posting up some tutorials on how I do this or that - painting, converting, bases, whatever it is that people are interested in, I'll do my best.

If Silk and I can get our lazy bums off of Call of Duty 4 and start playing VASSAL or something similar, you may be getting some ork on ork battle reports later on. However, no promises - shooting stuff is generally more exciting than setting up a long VASSAL game when we're on different ends of the globe.

Anyway, posting a long post like this without pictures would make me die a little on the inside. So, I'm going to post my concept ork - this is my first one, so (especially the fedora) it could use some work, but this is pretty much what I have in mind.

Mind you, this is not only my first ork ever, but my first major greenstuff conversion. I would also like to add that once I get some more supplies, there will be even more conversions. I plan on getting some plastic tubing to make the shoota a Tommy Gun, I plan on getting some plasticard and adding little trinkets here and there to add to the effect - he's not quite fully converted yet. However, this is as far as it's going to get for the next week or so until I can get out and get some more materials.

Edit: I'd like to add that this ork, and the next 2-3 orks, are old orks I had lying around, NOT the Black Reach orks. As such, these mostly had 1-2 layers of paint already on them, so they're slightly (but only slightly) thicker than normal. Some of them have mold lines in some places as well. Also, this is not what the Black Reach orks look like - I love the BR orks, but all of them have sluggas and choppas, there are absolutely NO shootas.

This seems interesting....

1shot, love the hat on the ork, and the cigar.

I will watch with great interest!

I thought you are meant to show the pictures in the project log 1shot?
Anyways - ive deviated and decided to go with my Slaaneshi daemon army - see if I can get that finished up at some point!

So here she is - the daemon prince for the army:

I know theres a few areas I need to touch up - but to be honest I never noticed them until I took the photograph. However, if a good number of you wind up complaining about it I will go back and re paint a few areas.

and an army list!

-HQ-

The masque = 100 points

2x Slaaneshi heralds with Pavane - 140 points

[tt]These are designed for the first turn - deep strike and pavane a unit to force them to move to avoid a serious wave of shots. They will be split up - the masque part of the main wave along with the daemon prince, and the heralds coming in as back up later on. Model wise, they will represent the Misstresses play toys - although she enjoys it a little on the kinky side.[/tt]

-ELITE-

4x Flamers = 140 points

4x Flamers = 140 points

[tt]Seperated between the two waves for just in case purposes. I want them to deep strike and wipe out anything that the pavane assault failed to budge - or alternatively (depending on the enemy) shoot a unit thats been forced out of cover. For those of you familiar with my cyborg daemonette these will fallow a similar theme with Miniguns for one arm and a shield for another - covering both the psychic powers and the increased cover save.[/tt]

-TROOPS-

10x Daemonettes = 140

10x Daemonettes = 140

10x Daemonettes = 140

10x Daemonettes = 140

[tt]The meat of the army. 3 for the chosen wave, and the extra squad as back up. Rending claws mean that they can tackle anything that I want them to tackle giving me some flexability, whilst fleet means I don't have to worry about deepstriking too well. Model wise - look at the showcase topic.[/tt]

-FAST ATTACK-

8x Seekers of Slaanesh = 136

8x Seekers of Slaanesh = 136

[tt]Who can resist these little beauties? Fast, deadly and CHEAP! I can deep strike them behind cover and then charge them around it. The models are gonig to be harpies - daemonettes with harpy wings. Belive it or not this is the most expensive models in the army until I decide toget a soul grinder or 2.[/tt]

-HEAVY SUPPORT-

Daemon prince - Mark of slaanesh, iron hide, pavane = 150 points

[tt]
Gotta love daemon princes aswell. Powerful, tough, and reletively cheap too. The pavane is for the first turn and when needing to neutralise a unit at distance. The model almost became a Keeper of secrets - but I decided that the prince was cheaper. wait till you see the model ^_^
[/tt]
The waves:

My choice:

Masque,
Daemon Prince
2 daemonettes
1 flamer unit
1 seeker

reserves choice:

2 heralds
2 daemonettes
1 flamer
1 seeker

TOTAL POINTS: 1502

(yes, I know it's 2 points over - theres very few points to shave. If anybody has any problems with it lemme know)

Silk,

Nice daemon princess, I like it alot, but is she like a female hunter or something?

Also, why are both Slaaneshi and Harlequin armies 'Masques' with both being great enemies?

I don't play Daemons, cant comment on the list. :P However, I will ask, is 140 your lucky number? :P

I await more!

Hey Silk - is she as naked as she looks? :P
By that I mean, well, you know what I mean. You just frighten me some times, although seeing this is no surprise when I think about it
