Default Bladeswift Cadre (army blog C&C pls)

The Bladeswift cadre was a large colonisation fleet from the T'au sept that, after colonising several planets, and aiding in the gulf crusade, they gained their own colors. They settled upon an Imperial world, inhabited by a small Guardsman force and many miners. Mining facilities and equipment littered the planet's surface. The Bladeswift Cadre attcked, killed off it's inhabitants, and now uses it as their base of operations, where Aun'El T'au Se'ku watches over the campaigns done by Shas'O T'au Ta'ka... Without further adu, the Bladeswift Cadre...
(And yes, there's alot more to their story than just that...)

Ethereal Aun'El T'au Se'ku

Hammerhead

My Pathfinders are still in the process of being repainted to fit this new coloscheme (no, no ritualistic markings) and I am in the process of ordering some kroot and a devilfish, along with getting the bits needed for the ejected version of Ta'ka. Enemies of the Greater Good beware.

It's hard to tell with the photos, they are pretty fuzzy. However, from what I can see, the paint is really thick. Water it down about 2:1 paint:water to get a cleaner and smoother result - right now, you're models seem as chunky as a chocolate chip.
Good luck!

Gragh painting's hard to do... lol. Most of the paints I'm using ARE chunky and thick because I havn't taken them outta the box since 2003 when I first got my Tau... They're a bit... dusty too... Literally, covered in dust :/ Oi'vay, ethereals protect us... And I still need a digi camera, but all I got for now is an old Lego studios camera...

Yep... :/

And (please do not critisize me for this...) the black areas you see are all still primed areas. It would've looked horrific if I was to paint the undersuit of the armor, so I just left it blank. The same with the Hammerhead. All black areas are primed. :/

I like the Shas'O Crisis suit, and the ethereal, but the paint is a little thick. Besides that, they look pretty good!

"Pathfinders lead the way"

That's all for today, getting the kroot, devilfish, new not-dried out paints (and hopefully the ejected version of Ta'ka) over the vacation. Over and out!

Well you could keep coming up with excuses and continue to make mediocre at best models. Or you could listen to what they are saying and take it into consideration.

I am. But the thing is, the only paints I have are mostly dried up and very chunky and thick. Another reason they look too thick is because of the number of different paintjobs I've given them. The next models'll look nicer. That is a promise! I see two possible explanations why the paints look so thick...

1. I have not painted for about a year, and somehow, all the paints got dried up. The only ones that are paintable (chainmail, chaos black, blazing orange) are... chunky... (hence, the reason why I must return to GW to get some new paints)

2. The second explanation is that I saw that whenever I saw something wrong with them, I had gone back to fix this, I may have done it at least three times by now...

The most likely explanation is #1...

Try to buy some new paints then, or just add water to the 'dried-up'. Remember that you always have to add water to your paint (not too much). It's better to add a lot of thin layers than one thick layer.

I'm looking forward for progress.

Agreed a little water add a penny to your pot and shake, shake, shake...oh and if that's not enough shake some more if your paint is still to chunky time to buy new paints.

Also if your repainting it may do some good to strip the old paint jobs using simple green or the various other solutions to removing paint from minis (check the stickied threads) and start from ground and work up
