Default Paint removal

I hope this is the right section for this question, I didn't see anything that looked more appropriate.
What does everyone feel is the best (read: cheapest and best) solution for removing paint from W40k models to start over again? Preferably something which works on both the plastic and metal models (and is least likely to harm the model, obviously).

I've heard everything from oven cleaner to brake fluid, but I don't know specifically how the plastic/metal reacts to being left in different solutions.

Thanks!

I like using Methylated spirrit for metal models and nail polish remover for plastic. This should probably be in the painting section....

There is a sticky in the painting section, but to save you 8 pages of reading i'll just tell you to soak it in Pine-Sol or Simple Green (i think thats what its called). Get them at WalMart or some other kind of store with cleaning supplies. Soak them over night and then scrub them with a toothbrush next day. Now i'm going to ask for a lock.

Never use Nail Polish remover for plastic models, this will melt the plastic

Yes, there's a large sticky here for other advice, but Dettol and Simple Green appear to be the two that work quite well on Plastic and Metal without risking damage to the mini, though I should note green stuff does seem to suffer from prolonged exposure if it wasn't mixed correctly.

Sorry for the incorrect post, I didn't see the "Painting" subsection within "Hobby", and thus couldn't check for the sticky... thanks for the point in the right direction! Kroot and Battlesuits currently sitting in Simple Green, and metal suits in Dettol... will report back results. :-)
