There are many threads about Airbrushing in the past - while I have no experience with Airbrushes, you may want to do a forum search and see what that comes up with. You may get some help there.

I've seen a ton of threads that say something like, "yeah, I airbrushed this and used these colors and mixed... blah, blah." They assume some level of understanding that I lack.

Hmm.

This may help you, though I didn't understand much of it so maybe you won't either.

You also may want to PM Gareth, though he's a busy guy, so he may not respond.

It's not GW/40k specific, but this is a handy introduction to airbrushing.

I'm no airbrush expert. I pretty much just base coat.

I wrote this beginners guide to understanding the terms and types of airbrush you can buy and the options you can do.

At the bottom is a link to the compressor and airbrush i purchased. Its dirt cheap and fantastic.

I must say avoid the new GW one and the Aircan propellant. Its external mix air brush and the cans drop in temperature and pressure as you use them, you can get round this by having the can in warm water, but its not that much better, plus the cans run out when you least expect it. Basically it'll splatter and not be very accurate.

Also avoid GW paints, I found them to clog airbrushes with their chunky pigments. Even thinning didn't help. I use Vallejo game colour and they're fine. Little bit of water and a drop of washing up liquid is all I do.

Site is experiencing some downtime at the time of writing this, but when its back up I urge you to join, say hi to unlock the forum and then check out bulldogs scratch built titans. He airbrushes them completely... here is a taster... A scratch built marauder bomber

GW paints aren't so bad for airbrushing. I've been able to spray the regular and foundation paints. Tip dry is something that happens with acrylics because of their quick drying time. It's not exclusive to GW. Given their drive to simplify painting, I am curious to see what their recommendations are for thinning for use with their new spray gun system.

I've only tried one Game Color paint and I haven't found the right mix yet. I find the Model Air paints to be great, but they don't come in 40k colors, just military ones.
