I've been playing Warhammer now for a little while and since my painting skill is getting better I decided to re-paint my 'nids. Although im completely stumped on what to paint the carapace, the skin parts have been painted dark green as can be seen in this pic:


My first thoughts for the armor were dark brown or black, any idea which would be best and how to paint it?
C+C on the job so far muchly apreciated (just go easy on me ^^)

I like the green on the flesh. I think you should paint the carapace a yellow

Well since your Nids are swamp themed you could do a brown, green or black green mix or a green yellow mix on the carapace. Now just turn off the flash please

I'd make the carapace a dark brown base with yellow streaks running down them. Sorta like dead grass. Camo for a swamp.

I'd try a dark brown maby even a teracota. the flesh looks great

Oh, wait. When I first saw the green, I thought it was Green Stuff modelling because of the flash - if it was, you would be a God

But if you want a browny for nids, may I recommend:

Scorched Brown > Kommando Khaki/Water (50/50) > Bleached Bone highlights > Brown Ink/Chestnut Ink (50/50) for recesses.

I've tried it before and looks great. You can substite Khaki for a darker colour if you wish

Maybe if you paint the carapace bleached bone, you could have a dark angels SM's preferred enemy special rule :P

Looks alright, for the carapace the previous suggestions are mostly good. I say you probably shouldn't paint it something too bright. A dark brown could do, or if you feel up to it you could do pretty much any cool pattern in any color on a black background.

Yeah, I suggest graveyard earth, That would look pretty cool ^^ Maybe thats a bit too light though? But scorched brown is too dark... Hmm, I'll have to look into that...
