Default Testing for interest

Okay, me and the wife were having an idea for a product or two. Unfortunately I can't tell you much about it so I'm going to have to be vague (again, I apologize, just try to answer as best you feel).

As painters we typically have to mix paints quite a bit to get colors we want. We also tend to have a rather enormous amount of space for all of the paints we require in addition to the actual working area as well as, of course, any storage for mixed paints. If you had a way to permanently store AND precisely mix a large ratio of paints in one (as well as have a convenient area to work with them) would you be interested in it?

The other idea involves a method of storing a large amount of a particular color of paint yet not requiring a separate area to work with it. If you could have a method of storing larger amount of your paints yet not have to worry about "bottle of the barrel" syndrome and always have a neat, small area of paint to draw on would you be interested in it?

The cost we haven't worked out but would be in the neighborhood of about $3 for the second and possibly about $7 for the first if cost is a deciding factor in your vote.

I again apologize about the vague nature of it but we need to know more about community interest before we let anyone see it. Feel free to ask questions if you like but I probably won't be able to answer any that would deal with the specific nature of it. Thank you.

How big of a paint container?
Games-Workshop already sells empty paint bottles at the normal color size.

Are there any more rough details you can tell us. I would be interested if I could get a better idea of what they were. Thanks.

Let's say about 18fl oz in size. Unlike your conventional paint container though you wouldn't have to pour the paint out to use it. There's also the other possibility of one that can store multiple paints for precise mixing...again, without pouring it out of the bottle for use.

At the moment that'd be about all I could say unfortunately. We're looking to build a few prototypes and check with the patent office in the near future, after which we could show the design more easily without fear of being ripped off.

Mainly we're wondering if your typical hobbyist would be interested in a more efficient means of paint storage and use than the conventional paint pot, tube, or bottle.

I'm definitely interested. I'd like to see a prototype, although I understand you reasons for not showing one at the moment.

I may be interested, but personally I kind of doubt it. However, I think it's a great idea, and I thnk many people would want it (I just don't really have the need for one right now)

I may not be reading what you've typed correctly, but I still don't get exactly what you're talking about for your second idea.

The first one, however, sounds nice. I'm interested.

I am definately interested. I would be happy to buy some when you have your prototypes done. I may also have some friends that would be interested.
