Default Painting battle damage

I'm looking to make the more senior units in my army look like they've seen combat (i.e. the shas'ui's in my FW squads, my suits/tanks etc. etc)

I'm not fantastic with a knife so making marks isn't really on my list of things to try just yet (I'll give it a go on some bitz later)

I just need some advice on good battle damage and wear & tear effects I can paint onto my models.

Cheers

Do some thick lines from the edge of the armour plate to the centre and follow with boltgun metal.

I'm afraid I dont even have the tau codex yet, let alone the ork one. Should be getting one soon though....

I'll find some spares and practice a bit on them to see if I can get the look I want, thanks for the tip.

Quoting the US website, because I think their article was more filled out, but anyway, this might help
