Well i usually ink my minis, so I'll tell you a few tips.

Start up with taking a glass, fill it with water and add a drop of dish soap. The soap increases the floating "Abilities" of the ink, so it floats easier down into recesses and alike. Then take your ink. (I use flesh wash for an example) Dip the brush into it, then dip it into the water and scrape off the largest amounts of ink on the edge of the glass (otherwise the flesh will get a weird tone). Then apply it over the flesh of the model, let it dry.

Then you're done.

And painting tips? I'll tell you the most used tricks.

*Drybrushing*
Take a brush (Preferably ruined) and dip into, say your Boltgun metal pot. Wipe away most of the paint and then paint on, say a sword or other metal parts. This gives a nice effect that looks a TON better than painting Boltgun metal on the sword.

And now some basic tips.

Never ever leave your brushes with the "Hairy" side down in your water glass. This ruins your brushes and bends them in odd directions.

Keep your inking glass and normal paint glass (With water) separated. So you won't mix the two. You don't want your flesh wash to be become green as you have washed away your Goblin green paint in the inking glass, do you?

Treat your brushes like your best friend. Be careful with them, otherwise they will be ruined and unusable.

Only add paint on the top of the Brush. Never dip the entire brush into your paint pot, as this also ruins the brush.

Hey Grey Knight,

I just posted recently a painting guide. You can find it at this link:
http://forums.tauonline.org/index.php?topic=39408.0
You will probably be able to find some other tutorials in the stickied section, or on other mini websites such as coolminiornot.com.
Also, at tauonline.org (the main page of this website, not the forums) you can find some good guides.

Good luck!
