Default City Fight Urban Tau Camo

The Fire Warriors are finished, as are the gun drones; the 'suit and the HH are still a work in progress.

I used poster putty ropes over the dark layer on the suit and the HH after it was dry. I then sprayed the lighter grey over the poster putty ropes, which leave no residue and theycan be reused over and over. When you pull them up, they leave a nice fuzzed edge. Just make sure you use light coats and don't get closer than a foot.

Regards,

Pretty nice. Don't forget to base that suit and those drones.

I like the warriors and the hammerhead looks ace. However, the suit doesn't look finished and is a big contrast with the drones. Whereas the drones are predominately black, the suit has no black on him at all. I'd balance those two units out, base them, and call them done.

Thanks,

There is a progression here, in fact. The FWs were done after I did the HH (and the other skimmers). I loved the grey on greys, but contrast was needed or the army just looked too drab. So I added black to the drones (I have a zillyun drones).

You make a good point, there needs to be a bridge unit that incorporates the drone color and the other unit colors (at least from a design perspective). There will be more black on the suits, and they are on hiatus until I get the other suits assembled. My pathfinders will have the drone scheme too, and maybe my snipers as well.

I have even thought that the Piranhas should be painted up like killer whales, which seems pretty.

It seems too light to me, a little black would do wonders for the scheme, even if only a dot here or there on the firewarriors

Looks great! What kind of poster putty did you use?

Did you basecoat the darker color, putty out the lines and then rebase coat with lighter color?

Are you going to highlight the camo pattern?

Love the pattern. I may just steal it for my own Urban Tau!

The poster putty was purchased at an art supply store. It comes in white blocks. The texture is similar to C-4. I have also seen it in blue. They both work fine.

The base coat was the darker grey, then I made long noodles of putty on a piece of acrylic, made sure they were somewhat uniform, and placed them on the vehicles in interesting, sinuous patterns. My take on the Tau is that their vehciles are all organic curves anyway. I then sprayed light coats over the putty from about 12 inches. Too close and you lose the fuzzy edge.

Highlighting is planned, and some minor detailing like panel lines and some other stuff I am not ready to do yet.

As far as the pattern, by all means steal it, the best artists steal their odeas anyway. ;D
Note that you can use blobs instead of ropes for the putty to get a different effect. For some very cool ideas check out http://www.luft46.com/luftart.html, it is phenomenally good for camo patterns! Regards,

That is the weirdest colour scheme I've seen. The contrast between the Firewarriors and the Battlesuit made my eyes go funny... :-\

Otherwise they look quite good.
