Default Tau paint schemes

Unless some unforseen dificulties arise I should become a tau player soon thanks to some trades with a couple TO people. 8) I haven't had a chance to check out the codex to see if they show various paint schemes like they have in the IG codex. So really I've only seen paint schemes from people on this site and CMON and a few white dwarfs.

I have no idea how I will paint them but plan on taking my painting skills to the next level with this army. I want to stay away from black as a major color because my SM chapter is mostly black armor. I've considered doing the white armor/red cloth of the ones pictured on the cities of death cover.

Anyway, I would appreciate it if people could post either their own paint schemes or just ones they really like to help give me some inspiration. Thanks.

Okay. Not very well painted as these two were my very first attempt to paint Tau models. However, the colour scheme is still being used until today. I am hoping to go back to these models and do a little touching up and updating on them.

EDIT: Forgot to list the colours I used.
Colours used: Snot Green armor, Chaos Black undersuit, Boltgun Metal for the large screw things, Skull White for part of the antannae and warstripes. Warstripes not done yet. Blood Red for the helmet lenses.

Commando Khaki armour, Red Gore variation, Scorched Brown cloth
It's the team leader, the others fire warriors have Bleached Bone variations.

Everyone's look very nice so far. One deal is official now so I should have a big bag o' tau to sort through/strip paint/convert and then get ready to paint in about a week.

I think I may have found a paint scheme to steal. This would go nicely with a desert world table I've been planning on making.

Keep the paint schemes coming, though, I haven't made up my mind yet!

Yeah. He does. But he did a lot of conversions. Especially on the Sniper Drone Team Spotter. He made it look like as if the Spotter was taking a break to peek over the stone. Very nicely done that effect.

Here are mine. Three rows are three different types of troops. The first row are the standard infantry footsloggers. Second row are the Cavalry units, mounted in Devilfish. Third row are the Airbourne, mounted in Orcas. Shas'La on the left, Shas'Ui on the right.

So far I don't use any standard infantry colours, as I have one Cavalry unit and 3 units from the Airbourne (I don't actually have an Orca, it's just fluff-wise, so they start on the board, no transport. Depending on how I grow my army, I may do some Infantry units in the future. Mostly it's just there because I like planning out all aspects of my army.

Oh, and a shout-out to Tael from Eastern Empire for the rockin outlines to colour. I'm happy I didn't have to waste paint, time and models to find the set-ups I like. Well, ok, I wasted time, but not as much as if I were painting them.

And if anyone else uses these, if you go to the paint section of GW's online store, they have little colour squares for the paints you can right-click and save as Gifs to sample the colours. BTW, armour is Snot Green, jumpsuit is Desert Yellow, sept markings/shas'ui helmets Liche Purple and the circle on the shoulder pad (would be the Tau symbol) is Bleached Bone.
