Anyone have any ideas on doing decent looking, quick and easy snow bases. At this stage i'm thinking sand, painted green and heavily drybrushed white for the snow covered grass look.
Any other ideas?

quarter flour, quarter white paint, half PVA glue (or white glue...whatever you wanna call it)
works nicely. sand looks pretty crappy. another favourite is just baking powder and white glue

the white paint is to stop the flour from yellowing right?
i apply the snow after i have finished painting. also paint the base white before applying. |

2 parts baking soda, 1 part glue, 1 part water. Add a tiny amount of blue ink. Mix until a runny mashed potatoe consistency. Spoon on. It will dry with a slightly porous texture which can easily be drybrushed.
At this stage you could take it a step further by using Woodland scenics snow flock clouded on. I don't recommend it as the foundation of your snow though. Think of it as more of a dust than a deep drift.

I was cooking last night and needed some sugar and noticed the Splenda that I have resembles snow...much better then sugar would. Its very fluffy\flaky and doesnt seem to be very sticky..
Not sure if you have Splenda across the pond but it might be worth looking at... most of the resturants in the states carry it on the table in little packets and a box is a few $ Just a thought. |
