Default WIP Fire Warrior

Hey Everybody,

This is a WIP fire warrior that went horrible wrong. I was trying to try the bone/white armour against a purple clothe, as it greates really good contrast. But I screwed up. First of all, I used a black basecoat ( :'( ) and secondly, I used my oldest brush; so my highlights are ultra-thick! Urrraaaghhh!

Well considering the circumstances you were in, it's understandable (we all make mistakes) Anyways it looks rather mysterious and rather good, a potent combination!

well, considering that you pinpointed the flaws yourself, i wont point out that mold line on his helmet..

but other then that, it seems like you got a good start for a cool colorscheme

Nice prototype. You might want to try a medium grey base-coat (white has no depth).

Hmmm... you want bone on black? Easy... Its all in the colour layering... Don't worry, I'm not good enough to think this up... I simply follow the rule of the scheme, and it seems to work.

[The Plusses mean paint next colour on the one before, not for mixing anything...]

Black
+
Bestial Brown
+
Snakebite Lather
+
Bleached Bone
+
Skull White

Thats basic bone, working from black-to-white in 5 stages... it works well with anything you want bone coloured... or just stop at Snakebite for great leather!

If you want clean white, try this:
Black
+
Codex Grey
+
Skull White

I use these basic schemes all the time, because they produce contrastic results, and they require no mixing... a pet peeve of mine.

I would try the bone on one FireWarrior, and see how it comes out!

Good luck!
Stankov

PS: Don't thank me, thank White Dwarf and common sense! As I said, I'm nowehere near accomplished enough to figure all this out... merely sharing discoveries.

One layer (actually several layers f you thin your paints, which you should) of everything, right?

I don't play Tau, I was just messing around.

And actually, I'm not to concerned about the gigantic mold line on the Fire Warriors helmet; I won't be using this model!

For bone I did this: Graveyard earth>Bleached Bone>Skull White

I should've done this: Bestiel Brown>Graveyard Earth>Bleached Bone> Extreme Highlights of skull white

And I should've basecoated in skull white! :-\

One thinned layer of graveyard earth, and one ultra thinned layer. Two layers of really watered down bleached bone. And several water down skull white layers. Just a note- by the end of this project, I got ultra lazy-so don't be surprised! :P
