i have never done BFG but i play fantasy and 40k but i guess the question is any recomondations for a noob to BFG

Well, I personally recommend the Imperial Fleet; it's quite simple, has lots of options, and is pretty powerful. Likewise, Chaos is good for the same reasons.

Other fleets tend to be a bit trickier to use.

same recommendations, but i'd go further and say that an imperial fleet centred around lunar class cruisers, with specialist ships to meet your particular needs.

How easy is BFG to learn, like is it board game easy?

It is fairly easy to learn, but very hard to master. There's a lot of things you have to learn; how to predict momentum (ships have minimum movement), what Special Orders to give, and when, how to co-ordinate your fleet to fight as one, which weapons to use on which targets, when to disengage and when to fight on... there's always a new trick and tactic to pick up.

But trust me, it's worth it.

Like Smurf said, a fleet with lots of Lunars (being the single greatest ship in the game) is a good way to go.
