Well, in keeping with my inability to not mess around with any army list I lay hands on... a Segmentum Obsurus Reserve Fleet:
The Gailai sector is located in the galactic North-East, perilously distant from the benevolant light of the Astronomican and close to the Ghoul Stars. The planet of Gailai, as well as the home of the dedicated Scimitars, a dedicated Imperial Guard paraborne regiment, is also a base of clandestine trade between bizare and unknown Xenos races and itinerant Rogue Traders. To police the inevidable risk of piracy and raiding brought about by such an ignoble status, Gailaith has a small fleet of vessels able to respond rapidly to any threat. Battlecruisers: Flame of Gailai (Mars Battlecruiser)- 345pts - Fleet Admiral w/ Extra Reroll The flagship of the fleet, the Flame is used in a roll simmilar to that of an Oberon Battleship - able to meet a variety of chalanges with it's varied weaponry, and opperate with minimal escort. Cruisers: Sigil (Murder Cruiser) - 170pts This ancient hulk of a vessel was actually refurbished and made service-ready by an alien race which makes common contact with the neutral port in the sector. Their gifting of the vessel to Battlefleet Gailaith was their way of sealing of a pact of nonagression. Squadron Watchtower (2 Dauntless Cruisers, 1 w/ Torpedos) - 220pts Squadron Gatekeeper (2 Dauntless Cruisers, 1 w/ Torpedos) - 220pts Used as a main battle force, Watchtowe as a squadron is made up of the Cornerstone, Column, and Battlement. Escorts: Squadron Nebulae (3 Sword Frigates, 2 Firestorm) - 185pts Squadron Nova (3 Sword Frigates, 2 Firestorm) - 185pts Escorting the main fleet, Nebulae and Nova Squadrons usee their combination of Lance and Torpedo fire to combat a variety of threats. Squadron Meteor (3 Cobra Destroyers) - 90pts Squadron Eclipse (3 Cobra Destroyers) - 90pts Light, fast, and small, Cobras are ideal pirate-hunting vessels for such an undertasked fleet. Total: 1505 Points Comments & Criticism welcome ! |

You're a bit lacking on cruisers, I'd say... Light cruisers are ideal as support ships, but they are no substitude for real cruisers. They're more glorified escorts than true cruisers. With just two cruisers at 1500pts, you're going to be seriously outgunned in most fights.
Another thing is that you're mixing ships with different weaponary in squadrons where that isn't needed. It would be far more effective if you'd squadron the two torp dauntless together and put the two lance dauntless in another squadron (though I recommend losing one of the two squadrons in favour of a real cruiser). Same goes for the escorts, put the firestorms in a seperate squadron (or two) and second it to the the lance dauntless squadron. Two dauntless and four firestorms make for a quite impressive lance barrrage... Swords are nice, but personally I'm not really a fan of them.. but that's just me. They do have some impressive firepower for their cost, but they just don't have the effectiveness of the firestorm and cobra. But aside from a lack of cruisers and wrongly mixed squadrons, your list seems to have everything it needs. Ordnance, torpedoes, lances, batteries and escorts. Not bad.

I would suggest keeping the light cruisers.
They are fluffy, and well match for pirate ships. The whole list seems to be based on fast/manouverable ships. Also, itīs tretty easy to break in smaller parts (say 750 pts list) to present smaller patrol. |

And it really doesn't make it much harder to break it up into two lists.. In the worst case you have to break up one or two squadrons.
