Default And here's where we Elder Scrolls Fanboys get all fanwanky

I am of course, talking about this.

An Elder Scrolls book. But of course, none of us are too interested in the book. Rather, what does this mean for TES V?

One thing I've noticed is that in the synopsis on the book's website, it talks about a group of heroes. Could this maybe possibly mean that Beth might begin working on improving their god-awful "Party," mechanics, to try to turn this into a more group-based game? I personally wouldn't mind seeing that. Having a memorable, well developed, and fleshed out character that isn't Sheogorath would be a welcome change from the current Status-quo. The Elder scrolls universe is so beautiful and well-crafted that I always thought it was a shame that your character would inevitably end up being a silent, solitary juggernaut, bitchslapping gods and demons alike to the sound of his own loneliness.

Anyway, that's one of my over-interpretations. What are yours?

I want it, thats all I can say! Amazing games, most fun I've had in video games is theirs. True, they still have not gotten the party mechanics working well, but maybe the next game will! lol. I've always loved reading about the background for the game, and I've found it wonderfully rich and full of character. Everything they have done is lovingly crafted and it shows. Book=Awesome. I hope that it will touch on places and events that the games cover. Kinda like easter-eggs for those who've played the games.

You character is a socially decrepit loner because no one wants to be seen with someone who cant look one direction and move another. Walking forward and sideways shouldn't scare all the children in the Provence into hiding like that.

This is also true for Fallout 3, but those children where a little tougher to scare. Anyways, the point is they need much more fluid character actions before I would even want to see any other players on screen.

Alright, what do we have here?

It appears that someone at Waterstones dropped the ball when it comes to this book.

TES Nexus suggests that TESV might take place roughly 200 years after Oblivion.

What could this possibly mean? Guns, maybe?

Doubt that it will take place many years after Oblivion. If we remember the tail end of morrowind, the reports of the assassination of the emperors sons and the opening of oblivion gates, then we should realise that the games run into each other. Now, lets not forget that Oblivion has it's own disasters running around - the invasion of Vvardenfel by the Nord, the neverine going off on a secret quest, the Mesmer sealing off summerset isle from the mainland, deepening their worship of daedra.

They are setting the scene for the next game much like they set the tone for Oblivion - the empire is being stretched to breaking point, ancient enemies revealing themselves, and the old races are no longer around to fend them off.

And as far as guns are concerned - please... The Cyrodilic empire is more technologicaly incompetant than the Warhammer 40,000 imperium - The dwarves are all but dead, their steam technology nothing but legend, the High elves refuse to co-operate, the Orcs are stuck in their ways. There is no technological advancement beyond that made by mad men. The entire planet is wrapped in superstition and magic. Technologically the world of Nirn is no more advanced than the Romans (although Socially equal to the British empire)

I really hope it is not a MMO though. I liked how the other games were. Maybe they could do something like Demon's Souls, where other players can come into your game and help you out?
