Im not denying that Assault rifles are actually good. It's just pistols hit the mid point just right - Assault rifles overheat, and their accuracy dissappears far too quickly for my liking.

And personally, IMO, if you're relying on a pistol as a "Jack of all trades," you must have failed whatever class they taught you about "Short, controlled bursts."
Wait - Since when has mass effect ever worried about stuff like that?? The recoil of the pistol barely exists, and over heating really isn't a problem unit Marksman is used. Why would I hamper myself to "short controlled busts" when it leaves me at a disadvantage?

OVERLOAD! Oh, I'm sorry, did your shotty just overheat? My bad OVERKILL!
Again, you're assuming that I'm gonig to be standing around like a duck.

Because it doesn't?

No, I'm not. Believe me, I am quite capable of hitting a moving target with my AR, thank you very much.

The dissadvantage im on about is that you aren't firing at 100% speed. With a pistol theres very little difference between holding onto the trigger and tapping it, other than just letting rip gets of more shots in the same time span.

One of things I liked most about ME was that it forced you to make hard choices, and not just live with them, but also deal with the fallout. The events on Virmire are probably the best example of that. Not many games I've played handle it that way.

Or
how you handle the destruction of the council - do you let them die, keeping alliance reinforcements strong to be able to launch a counter attack. Or do you rescue them, sacrificing human life for alien after hearing what Vigil said about how the reapers go about their genocide.
For once a game didn't gloss over the hard choices by ignoring their effect. Hell, at
the part where you can save/leave the council, I knew my ships would take a beating for the aliens, but it was more important that humanity stand with them!
Very few games manage this, IMO.

It one of those magical games that actually embed you in the history.
The first time I played through the game I was going to let the council die - they had been holding humanity back, treating us as second class citizens. Yet Vigils warning rang in my ears...
Yeah, the storyline and your character's part in it are amazing.

On my first playthrough, I 'roleplayed' myself. I picked answers that I would realisticly pick under the circumstances. At the end I had ~60 Paragon and ~15 Renegade (from those times I just got pissed at the council). Now I'm playing and going to try for the Renegade achievement and... I feel bad. I'm kicking around my crew, when last game I enjoyed the personalities and storylines; but now I'm making Ashley cry and stuff. It's... weird. :P

I let the council live mainly as a political move. The council are the leaders of basically the entire Galaxy, and letting them die would probably not end well (I doubt they made a contingency plan for the Citadel being attacked by a massive alien fleet that no-one knew existed. Maybe some of their successors were on different worlds, but I couldn't take that chance). On the other hand, saving the council would definitely merit a large reward, maybe even a council seat.

Thousands of Humans may have died, but personally, I think it was worth it to prevent the Galaxy from potentially spinning into Chaos.

I loved that the in-game character had the same last name as me, albeit spelt differently. S'nice to hear everyone calling you by your real name. xD

On my first playthrough, Adept. My team tends to be Liara/Wrex, but I've noticed that I don't have a tech specialist, so I can't break into anything. >_>
I've found Liara, obviously, and also done Noveria, about to do Ferros.

Done a whole load of the side-quests, and also managed to get max Renegade/Paragon points. =]
