Thanks to the Ravager Zero. I'm so interested in EVE Online now ^^ Now, all I have to do is find the game and the time cards then I'll be all set. I know Vash113 and Rafe is also playing. And I was wondering who else play EVE and can I join your guild/alliance/fleet? :P

I have the month trial, and am already bored. I would say get the free trial, and if you still like it after, then get more time after that. Combat got kinda boring, and mining isn't very fun, and I never got into the trading aspect... Each to his own.

All I can say is...

NO NO NO NO NO NO (you get the idea).

I played for quite a while, but it takes SO LONG to get to a decent point where you can actually get properly involved. I wanted to join the factional warface - but I was not regarded highly enough by my faction. It would have taken something like another FOUR MONTHS of solid gaming to get to the point where I could join my own race's generic fleet. Bear in mind that to catch up with the players that had been playing since it was released I actually spent £15 to get about 400,000,000ISK - against my better judgement but the guy that run the internet cafe I was at told me if I didn't I might as well not bother. So basically I had trained for 6 months, and had a maaaasive amount of cash, and still couldn't do something as basic as that.

It wouldn't be so bad if it was £4 per month or something, but £15 per month!? I was signed up for 6 months, and it cost me £90. £90.00

I don't know how much that is in Malaysia, but it will be a lot.

I've heard that to really get into the game properly can take up to two years...which is in the reigon of £360.
I have never payed that much for a comuter game, and don't intent to start now! I can reel of a list of the best games I've ever played and none of them cost more than £50! Also, the more you pay, and the longer you play, the less you want to cut your losses and quit. For me, cancelling my subscription felt like throwing that £90 away, but at least I had the good sense to quit before the price started creeping into the hundreds of pounds. :P

Basically - unless you are very well off and you don't care if you waste money, I would avoid it like the plague.

That's not to say it isn't good - it is. The graphics (on my new PC on full) are immense, but after a while it gets samey, and I could never truly enjoy it because you need to devote half your life to it to make it worthwhile. If you had no social life whatsoever, and didn't work, and had no friends or family, it would be a fantastic way of living out your days, but I choose life!

Just my 2 cents (or was it £90?).

The key thing is to get yourself into a good corp with a good bunch of guys, then its a lot more fun. You can run missions- if you need to get a lot of standing quick, find a corp mate and run in teams, etc. Mining is quite boring, I'll admit, but thats not all there is to do. I've gotten myself the skills for a Battlecruiser- which can be used to run up to level 4 missions- in less than 2 weeks. And PvP can be quite fun.

Its only $15 a month in the US, which is the standard rate for all MMORPGS- WoW, Eve, City of Heroes, City of Villians, Battlefield Europe, they all cost $15 a month.

My game name is Dr Geek

The big thing with Eve, IMO, is that it is NOT for everyone. You're either the type that likes Eve, or you're not, and thats ok- but a lot of people just don't like it, while other people love it. Still, try the game for sure, you can get a free 14 day trial.

The one thing that dissuades me from it is the price.

Otherwise, I'd be on that like white on rice.

Oooh, hi Tak.

Too much for your laptop? The non-premium graphics only requries a 32mb card!

Mining? Phhhffttt.....I already told Ravager I'm a dakka-whore. Big ships and loads of BFGs.

My name in EVE is Zekenai, btw. Feel free to add me.
