Default Game of the year?

I imagine this has already been done (and if so could somebody redirect me) but I was just wondering what was everyone's favourite game of 2007 was and why?

Hmmm... Interesting question. After much deliberation I'll vote for Dawn of War: Dark Crusade. For many weeks I enjoyed this great, if getting somewhat dated, game. All it's missing is some Tyranids, but if Relic announcing DoW2 at the next E3 like the rumour goes, then even that will be solved.

For me - it's a simple matter. Mass Effect.

Sure, it's got it's downers. And of course, it's aint perfect. But it is absolutely the pinnacle of RPGs. The graphics are spot on, the story line leaves you wanting more and more, the action blows away any other RPG, and the interaction between the characters is something that can only begin to be rivaled in films.

And the big games of 2008?? I got my eyes on Fallout 3 and fable 2. When I get my hands on these two beauties GW could have a U turn in it's customer policy and I wouldn't notice.

I'm actually going to go with Skate for this one just because of its innovative gameplay and good online ideas altough the career mode is lacking in originality

I'm going to have to go with Oblivion. I spent all of yesterday going through the Knights of the Nine questline, and I've spent today playing through Shivering Isles. I've played all the classes so far and I've only like Archer, Mage and Archer, shame.

Each to their own - the game isn't designed to be played one way - find one that fits you and go with it.

Although I doubt that it is a true game of the year. It is only an expansion. A big expansion I admit, but not a standalone game.

Although it has a huge landscape, Oblivion's main storyline is too linear; there is no choice about how it ends.

Are you crazy? It never ends! You don't even need to do the story :P!
