Iv'e been playing classic battletech far longer than i have been into 40K.
I also play 2nd edition babylon 5 wars(not the new streamlined version-a call to arms) Anybody else here play? CBT wise i play combine, lyran and hells horses B5wars i am a dedicated narn player.

I've never played either game,
but I'm a Babylon 5 fan, whats the game like? how is the system? My favourate races are probably the Minbari and Vorlons (I use three White stars and a Vorlon Cruiser in my BFG Eldar fleet)

Well the new B5 game (a call to arms) is more like battle fleet gothic ships have a firepower rating(number of shots) and a number of wounds/structure.
The old B5wars game was originally designed for smaller engagements of 1-5 ships per side for a 2 hour or so battle(much like battletech). The games are smaller because they are alot more complex. each ship has a control sheet like this- http://www.geocities.com/CapeCanaver.../M-Tinashi.pdf and this http://www.geocities.com/CapeCanaver...ive/Vor-CH.pdf with aplicable charts to tell you how much you can move, how far your weapons can shoot, how much damage they do, how hard it is to hit you and where you get hit by return fire. the system is a d20/10/6 system. the 20s are used to hit, find hit locations and for intiative rolls. the 10s and 6's relate to how much damage a weapon does (I.E. 2d10 +6 points of damage). the ship charts also have a number of systems and structure boxes that get filled in when you take damage. (classic battletech is an all d6/2d6 system) while B5 wars(and classic battletech) is alot more complex than 40K the up side is you need to buy fewer models and all shooting is simultanious. so if you loose a ship you still get to fire it on the turn it dies. the real edge in the game is the intiative order and how it relates to the capabilities of your ships. Oh and here are some examples of variations on battlemech control sheets. think of it as a more complex game of epic where titans are the main componant of the game to go along with your tanks and infantry. http://www.classicbattletech.com/dow...MechRS_4-6.pdf
