Hi, I'm new to 40k and have a couple dumb question, the first of many most likely. When adding up a mob point cost and it says the boys cost say 8 points (I don't have the codex in front of me) and you can add a nob for +11 does that mean the total point value of the mob plus 11 meaning the nob itself is worth 11 points or does it mean the 8 points of a regular boy plus 11 for being upgraded making the nob worth 19 points. I hope I wrote that so it makes sense I'm a little confused by the way its written in the codex and I've never played any sort of game similar to this.

Also under the Warboss bodyguard section it says he can have nobs and bodyguards it gives the point value and then says they can be armed with anything from the wargear section. Does that point cost count his basic weapons like a power claw and slugga, or is the point cost as if he was unarmed and then you add on the weapon points. Thanks for helping me clear this up.

A) A nob costs the basic boy cost plus the extra cost. So, in your example, yes it would be 19 points.

B) A warboss and his bodyguard are unarmed to start with, and so weapons need to be added to their point costs

I've another question I've been wondering about my warboss. He is the model for Ghazghkull , but he's been modified a bit. I took the spikes that come with the fantasy orks and glued two of them on each shoulder and made a helmet that covers his skull and hooks onto the big iron jaw so none of his head is visible except his eyes. Is it allowed to use this model as another warboss besides Ghazghkull or is the piece considered to be illegal?

Would my warboss have the same stats and abilities that Ghazghkull has?

Not that same points and abilities, but it would have the same equipment. You MAY get away with using him as Ghaz, but I ain't sure.

Gork is correct, Anime_Junkie, You can have All the Wargear listed in the Ork Codex for Warlord Ghazghkull EXCEPT his Admantium Skull. In addition, you wouldn't get his special character abilities.

Da Model is BOTH cool.... and legal to use.

Technically, you could still use him as Ghazkull if you wanted. Nothing saying he can't be wearing a helmet, after all.
