Anyways - my colours are largely based on what is quickest and easiest to paint - Blood red shirts, a few brown shirts, dark brown trousers and straight silver weapons. All with buckets of Badab black and devlan mud. Quick. Simple. And elegant. What more can you ask for? |

Blue aswell, blue is lucky for orks. not sure if any other colours apart from red have any significance though. anybody else know?

Camouflage is worn by the blood axe clan...But you could make your own clan that likes it or some other funky design. Possibly lightning bolts? just throwing ideas at you.

Just keep in mind that the Red wuns go fasta, and blue is lucky. Each klan has a colour preference, and skull motifs are common

I run a bad moons clan (yellow and black color scheme with moon and flame symbols). Now being the lazy git that I am I don't want to spend much time painting every single boy in my army so I came up with this technique to speed up the process.
I paint the orks completely yellow, then wash their skin with 2 to 3 layers of a green wash (Thraka Green I believe). The wash fills in the recesses in the model providing natural shading and highlights. Its quick and the more yellow green skin stands out a from other orks who are usually painted by layering greens. Can't post pics at the moment, but i'll see about getting some up. Cheers

Go Blood Axes! I've been having a blast painting my army, I paint each Ork and vehicle using one of 4 basic camo schemes, urban, woodland, desert, and snow. Each one I change up the patterns a little to make them more unique, it looks awesome to throw down a bunch of Orks in various camo schemes,

I agree that bloodaxes are fun. I just picked up another 27 shoota boyz, so I'm going to combine them with the 13 I already have for two squads of 20. Each squad will have different cammo colors. The first is in my log and is a desert pattern. I haven't' picked the colors for the second squad yet, but I'm leaning towards winter. The other blood axes in my army are the kommandos, and they will have urban cammo.
My army is comprised of all the clans, so each unit looks different. I like the way they are all orks, but each unit stands out individually. |

I just stick them together randomly. So a squad of Trukk boyz will have a bunch of different camo schemes in it.
