Default Good ork tactics.

What are the best ork tactics to play with, would you suggest buying lots of trucks or not?

The best tactics to play with are the ones you enjoy the most.

Lots of trukks or not depends entirely on what type of orks you plan to play. The beauty of an ork army is that you can field anything from shootie orks to green tide to spead freaks etc. You need to figure out what you want to do first. How do you want to play them?

I suggest looking at the Ork Library, lots of topics on strategies, tactics, and general army composition. Link in my signature or check the sticky thread at the top of the board.

Unless your going to be a Tourney player i'd sugest chosing a clan and follow its background or vice-versa
e.g. if you like bikes then get speed freaks
if you like boyz get a goff clan

or you could make up your own clan- mine's the Waaagh! of Colonel Sorck

Orks are good as long are fairly good whatever you choose as long as you play tactfuly.

Some players like trukks, others don't. It's dependent on your playstyle. If you want to run them, get a KFF Mek for sure.

Charge at your opponent and get into CC as fast as possible. For everything else, just do the same and make it up as you go.

That pretty much sums it up.

To be fair, Orks have some good shooting support units. A lot of competitive armies run Lootas for their ability to pop light vehicles and mow down hordes. But their CC prowess is much better. There are three theories of how to charge with Orks. Charge big, with massive hordes than can afford to lose some boyz; charge fast, with red-painted trukks, stormboyz and bikes; or charge 'ard, with battlewagons and well armored units inside. There's plenty of overlap between the three.

I'd agree that the ability to improvise is the greatest skill of an Ork commander. A lot of good Orky units have some luck-based abilities, and sometimes the boss will fail to hit. Just run with it, Indy.

A good ork tactic is to stay mobile, but that doesn't necessarily mean loads of trucks,

Warbuggies and bikes are my new favorites, twinlinked weapons on both of them, which is tremendous boon to the orks, their BS is only 2 which means, statistically, lots of misses, however, if you get to reroll misses they hit a whole lot more, obviously

Thats another ork tactic, fire enough dakka and hope you kill the target, theres only so many armor saves the other guy can make =)

I love warbuggies so much! They're cheap and they've always done very well in my games. I use them as a shield for my Trukks to give them a lovely 4+ while they get closer. In every game I've played there has really only been one round of shooting that was taken at the buggies, usually which 1-2 survive. By the next turn my Trukks are close enough to make them a large threat, leaving my buggies to zoom around and deny LOS or try to hit take out some tanks.
