They're a unit from a web-codex for "feral orks". This was way back in third edition, but it kinda leaked over into fourth as well. They're no longer legal.

Ultimately, they were S4 Orks for cheaper than normal boyz in the codex at the time. They were considered a cheesy uber-unit by many, but had the weakness of lacking a powerklaw and being unreliable (standard chart, 1: flee or something bad. 2-5: act normal 6: extra D6" movement towards nearest enemy)

Fluffwise, they were essentially just orks that had gone insane. A 40k version of Savage Orks. They tended to hang around with the Wierdboys in small isolated communities away from the main tribe.

The Feral Ork Madboyz weren't Madboyz.

Madboyz were a 1st / 2nd Edition Ork unit. They had twelve pages of rules all to themselves, that's how bonkers they were. They were so stark raving totally blinking daft that they were impossible to control, and you pretty much had to pray they accidentally did something useful, like throw the grenade instead of the pin.

Madboyz rocked.

nowadays to represent madboyz, people just convert their weirdboy'z bodyguard to look completely insane, no actual rules but you could always create house rules for them

Heh, and just when I was about to say Wargamer should make rules for it. I should have known better. :P
