Default Question about the klans

Yo, there are several klans aren't there, but if you don't fancy any of the klans, then can you make your own one, or can you make your own tribe of Orks that don't count as feral orks, because i don't think UK tournments allow feral Orks to be played.

The Klans are rather set, and I don't really think there's room in the fluff to make your own one.

But don't confuse Klan with warbands, or tribes. While Klans are more or less set in stone, Tribes and warbands are yours to customize. And a Tribe is not just a conglomeration of Feral Orks. A Tribe is just a group of Orks living together, most of the time from different Klans, and it can easiyl consist of numerous warbands. A warband is the smallest form of organisation (above the Mob, of course), and they can differ wildly. Some are single-Klan only, others are more varied.

And then there are Freebootaz; Orks from various Klans who decided to "forget" their Klan allegiance for plunder and booty.

So, while the number of Klans might be set, you can easily customize your own tribe and/or warband.

Can i have a warband/tribe that aren't from any of the know klans, so i can paint them my own colour and give them there own history, or will they count as feral Orks.

Of course you can! Game's Workshop can't make you do one thing or another. They just make guidelines and expect the players to elaborate and fleshout the existing guidelines. Nearly all of the Warbands on this site, I'd wager, have their very own background and paint scheme.

There is no reason that you cannot have your own klan other than the FLUFF nazi stating that you cannot. Fluff can be anything you want as long as you can back it up with a reasonable back story. Essencially a klan is several warbands that are operating under the same set of ethos/tactics. Go for it and branch out forge your own path.

You want Feral Orks? No problem! Da Art o' da Warboss - Becoming a Clan under the Snakebite Clan will give you some ideas

And yes, you can make your own Clan. Just make sure it's within the premise of fluff and reasonable.

Klans are essentially different mindsets programmed into the Orks' genes. Just as Meks and Doks pop out of the ground with a natural understanding of their encoded professions, all orks will also have a predetermined "base personality", which fall under the five different clans. Bad Moons are obsessed with wealth, and so a boy like this will naturally strip the teeth out of anything he finds or kills. This is simply their nature, and why like-minded orks can form "Klan Tribes", as orks of similar tastes are always drawn to eachother.

However, Orks also have extremely addictive personalities. If one finds an activity that it likes, it will inevitably continue doing that activity and become even more devoted to that specialisation. Wazdakka Gutsmek has become so addicted to speed that he had a dok give him special injectors so he literally never needs to leave the saddle for sleep. Given that the entire tribe is run by the warboss, if a warboss has a habit he will draw more like-minded orks to him. It is because of this that you can make any tribe you like based off of your warboss having a certain habit or mindset.
