Default protecting lootas

i was wondering if you could start a game with a unit of lootas in a battle wagon?

this way they can still provide support (as the battle wagon is open topped) and are pretty well protected.

Bear in mind though that if the BW moves then the Lootas can't shoot, they have heavy weapons. I find it's a pretty expensive way to protect Lootas and those points could probably be better spent elsewhere.

Yes, but a bare-bone Wagon is worth measly 100 points - of course, since it won't be moving, you might want to load it up with Big Shootaz...
On the other hand, if you add a Big Mek with a KFF, you have a nifty solid firebase...
Throw in Looted Wagons with Boomguns, and you can play merry hell with an opponent who expected you to actually charge after him ^^

Cheers,
-Bone

A Dakka Wagon full of Lootas and a Big Mek could throw out an obscene amount of fire. Definitely something that canít be ignored by the enemy and with a front armor of 14 and the Big Mek also very hard to kill. It would force the enemy to decide if he wants to use his heavy weapons to hit the Dreds and Kans or shoot the wagon. Every round he shoots at the wagon is another round the foot sloggers have to close with him. Even after kills the wagon the Lootas are still on the board and still shooting.

Something to consider: if the wagon is stunned or shaken the lootaz will also be unable to shoot. You can get out, but since Lootaz have heavy weapons, you'll lose a turn either way.

id say drop the bwagon and get more lootaz the solution that ive found for a problem protecting your orks is A) draw attention away from them or B) make the loss not worth it

a battlewagon will only draw your opponent to your lootas so instead of 14-12-10 armor you have 6-18 more shots

understand BE aggressive with orks its what they do best ;D

I share Taco's sentiment. You can have one big target, Lootas in a BW, or you can provide two threats and make your opponent decide which he wants to fire at, the Lootas or the BW.
