Default What filling does the Gunwagon need?

Hi All,
I've been pondering the above question for weeks now.
For those of you who aren't entirely used to my strange vocabulary, a Gunwagon is simply a Battlewagon with a Killkannon.
I've tried Shootaz, Burnas, pondered about Lootaz, Tankbustas and even Flash Gitz!
But honestly, it seems that nothing quite seems to click.
I want the Wagon to be a mobile gunbase with the option to assault. Ideally, it should be in and out of the 24" killkannon range.
Here are my gripes, please tell me if I'm missing something!

1. Shootaz
The good basic boyz. Cheap, reliably inaccurate, but good 18" dakka and they can have rokkits (24" range). Still, 18" range...

2. Burnaz
The Burnaz are invaluable for when I need to do a "dump and krump"; i.e. when something power-armory is starting to get too close for comfort and I have a WAARGH in my pocket. Still, it seems that until that point they do little else. Putting a Mek in the group does offer the ability to have a Kustom Blasta and y'know fix the occasional weapon destroyed/immobilzed issues.

3. Lootaz
Lootaz are great... as long as I don't move. Unfortunately, I find the Wagon scootching around everywhere trying to pin down targets and the Lootaz just can't handle that.

4. Tankbustas
There's actually a thread on this. I've learned to say no. <sniff>

5. Flash Gitz
24" range? Check. Shooty? Sorta. Hard as heck to kill? Yeah, mostly. Problem? More expensive than the Emporer's deoderant. (You know they probably have a few hundred of those little pine-tree things hanging around him all the time...)

I'm not sure how popular the gunwagon is around the boards, but I figured I'd give it a shot.

use grots! Instead of your need to krump in assualt, just dump a whole screaming bunch of gretchin all over your enemies' hard hitters. you could fit 20 grots in a battlewagon, or 18 with 2 runtherds (what have you). They've got 12" range (bleh) but bs 3 (woo!). And you'll have a bunch of left over points to kit your gunwagon with big shoota's to make up for the lack of shooty.

Umm...
Thanks for the suggestions. The only problem is number, or rather lack therof.
If kitted with the Killkannon, the Wagon can only hold 12.
11 Grots and a Runtherd = not too effective...

Haha, if only!
IG at least has S3, T3, WS3, but yes, BS3. It is sad tho, that the Grot Blaster is a S3 AP-, just like the lasgun... (although at a much much shorter range!, and you know... not rapid fire...)

maybe a squad of meganobz then? 4 nobz w/ twin-linked shootas? sounds sweet! that's about 140 points. Not too bad, and plenty of durability and killiness!

I'm running Deffwing so I need that 20-models capacity :P But then again, I'm juggling this idea of using normal Nobz (not equipped with Warbike or Mega Armor) and your post realized that I can still take 1 Warboss + 10 Nobz in a Battlewagon with Killkannon ^^ Thanks. Anyway...

I think Flash Gitz is one of the better options that fits your criteria. They're quite decent at assault (as they can get 4 Strength 5 attacks on the charge and they got 4+ Armor Save with FNP as well as a 5+ Invulnerable Save) against non CC-orientated units like SM Tactical Squads, IG Infantry Squads, Tau Fire Warriors/Kroot Carnivore Squad etc. Plus they're very shooty to boot!

Flash Gitz can also All fire from an Open Topped Wagon.

I'd go with your basic shoota mob. They're numerous (yay), they're troops and point-for-point they stack up pretty damn well against the Flashers.
