I was listening to a podcast today and they were taking about Nidzilla, I started to think about the orks would counter this since the ork don't have that many high strength AP 2 weapons. The way they explained the concept strategy of the army you use the fexes, and hive tyrants as moving and shooting cover for the stealers/gaunts (whatever infantry is running behind big creatures.) One of the keys to defeating this army as they told it was getting past the shield wall of creatures to the high points smaller creatures.
I can think of a few things but this is all conjecture on my part: Lobbas, big shootas warbuggies/wartracks, grot HTH shock absorbers w/ scorchas for countercharge; these are great for a tooled up army, but can these be use for an all comers army. I guess my question is to the seasoned community is how did you play the nidzilla, and what ork tactics did you use to succeed? Thanks

Why wouldn't you just shoot past the big stuff? Most good sized Ork mobz have the baility to pass Priority like a mutha, so why not just shoot the small stuff?
Also, why wouldn't Bikers or fast moving trukk boyz be able to pounce on the 'fexes? If they're shooty fexes, they're not tooled for combat. And Powerfists ruin everybodies day, in my experience.

A Killa Kan Mob of three Kanz armed with Mega Blastas give you three Strength 8 AP2 weapons at a BS3 with no problem on rolls of one that typically get hot on Mekboy models. Throw in Grot Riggers and the Mob of three Kanz gets a little pricey at 180 points. But two mobz of two Killa Kanz each (for a Gang of Four) can give you some flexible shooting and targeting options.

I use lots of trukkboy squads with powerklaws and warbuggies with tl rokkits. The buggies act as a screen and soften up the big bugs with rokkits, then the klaws lay the smackdown. The big bugs arent too scary in combat thanks to ablative wounds. Its all about isolating the bugs and planning your assaults....which isnt hard thanks to our free fleet movement nowadays :P

Deffkoptas could come in real handy here also. I was thinking about it the other day and a cheap, and not so dangerous way, to get lots of AP 2 on the table is Deffkoptas. For 40pts a model you could field Deffkoptas with KMBs. You've got fast movement, scout rule, and hit and run. You got BS 2, but a unit of 5 with KMBs should do alright.

Umm...Deffkoptas are BS 2 buddy...
You could always take a Shokk Attack Gun and pray for a 12, or you bring Zogwort to turn the Hive Tyrant into a squig...

For the Zilla list,
- Loota's are probably a bit better than tankbustaz because whilst being really useful vs the big nids - Burna's are just as effective if not more so then lootaz, loota's may just be a little safer. - SAG, - Large Mobs with a PK - 20 boys jumpin' outta Battlewagon are harder to cut through than 12 in a truck, - Zaap Guns... For killing the Carnie your going to want to take a full strength Zzap gun battery - Kannons, l - take twin linked rockets on Buggies to hit the monsters, - Against the big bugs, your best friend is a Nob with a Klaw. A Trukk mob should be able to deal with the Fex, if you can isolate it. A Tyrant with guard will cut through rather more ablative Boyz before you drop it, and should be hit with either two trukk Mobz or a big footslogging Mob. - a risky approach would be mek list Kans w/ grotzookas, deff dreads, BattleWagon w/ Killkannon (full of Burnas) Kannons - that's a load of templates every turn for big and small bugz. |
