Default DEFFKOPTAS - MAKIN' YER OWN!!

Deffkoptas - the new version of Orky Jetbikes that we could only through the Speed Freak List previously, are now available to all.

Now don't get me wrong, the metal Deffkopta Models are cool. But why spend good teeth on something when one has all these bits layin' about? My self assigned task was to build a pair of Deffkoptas with the Bits from me bitzbox.

Here are the results ..................

A frontage shot ............

An overhead view .............

BuzzSaw to Buzzsaw ...............

Overhead from the Right side ............

I used the idea of an ultralight aircraft as a model. The trick was to only use extra bitz, plastic tube or sprue section. I cut out a sprue to roughly resemble the capital letter "I" and built from there. I attached the three sections of plastic tube (each glued into the other) for the tail. I also attached a pair of Tau Drones left over from the Kit Bash of a pair of Tau Piranhas (as the engine sources) to the the Sprue section. This is perhaps my biggest departure from the traditional Deffkoptas rotating helo blades. I tried various propellers from old model aircraft that I used to fly as a kid (these flying models were tethered on a pair of long strings and I could control the altitude as I flew in a circle), but they were to large. Being a Good Mek I used what I had. Now would a pair of Tau Drones give enough push to rapidly propell a Deffkopta ............ ? Frankly it doesn't matter as long as the Orkz think that they can ..............

I wished that I had Killa Kan Buzzsaws to use instead of the Close Combat Klaws, but hey, they "woirk".

This configuration of Deffkopta comes in at 60 points with the twin linked big shoota and Buzzsaw. I have used them in four games (against Tau, Orks, Space Marines and Nids) and they have always done well.

It is interesting to note that I inadvertantly hit the center of gravity pretty close with the center axle hub of the Warbuggie wheel covers. There must be some Mek in me after all ...............

Best Regards,

I like the Deffkopta rules, but think it would be cool to use them for proxying modified Gun Drones. One of my army ideas is to play an army of Orks who've done looted a lot of Tau Gubbinz, with a Big Shoota being three Pulse Rifles taped together and with a sniper scope, with Warbikes armed with Burst Cannons, a Mekboy Kustom Forcefield being 2 Shield Drones on a stick, etc.

Awesome looking grav bikes Iveatch. I think the the klaws look good since they are only str 6 and represent what they are actually capable of doing.

Amazing work, Iveatch, but I agree with TimJim that they need propellers. Or maybe if you could make a jet-like engine and slap it on the back, that'd make sense, too. I just don't think that they look like they could propel themselves.

I still like them, though.

Propellers? PROPELLERS!? >
I thought these guys were ORKS! If ya wanna go all Panzee, put some sails or whatnot on them why dontcha? And a pink dress and wand to match.

Doing this the correct way. The ORKY way, you stick sum bigass jets on em.
THE BIGGER THE BETTER! Ans stick on some more shooty bits for good measure.

...propellers...pah...Youffs nowadays...grumble...

I've been wanting to tackle some of these, now I have to. I think they came out well, and I don't think they need a propeller. For some reason they remind me of Orky dragonflies.

Looks ok but the guns on the top look out of place. The orks should look like they are steering with something and it should definitely have some propellers as two gun drones would only be able to lift 4 pulse carbines!

nice attempt though!
