Default With the Cost of an Ork Model Rumored to be at 6 Pnts..........

......... will Ork players turn to Footsloggers in massive numbers?

With a Footslogger army now potentially having 33% more Orks make this a no brainer? You all know how Orks just love "No Brainers".

I think it will result in more of the Boyz getting through the mathematical avalanche of shooting we typically face.

Can't wait until January of 08!

It may be possible that I go for a massive footslogging force - but if the total cost of ym army reduced by 33% I think I may have to introduce a few new choices.

I can't wait to get my hands on some deff koptas, or mega armoured nobs. But then again I will also add the 33% back in as boyz, just for those times when you need it.

Like fighting those tau!! They just love to pelt out the firepower at the wrong moment!

Actually, I was working on a footslogger force at the current Ork boy cost. My 2,000 point army will have about 140 models (65 Slugga Boyz, 40 Shoota Boyz, 35+ Specialists).

However, with the lowered costs, I think I'm going to focus on building up some heavy support options to lend a bit more umph to the army. Likewise, I'm going to be very bummed if our slugga boyz loose their burnas altogether. :'(

To be honest, I think Speed Freeks are kinda screwed. The Boyz are less expensive, but the Trukks are moreso.

Ten-Ork squads with no real striking power other than the Nob, and few (if any) more models on the feeld?

I'll be putting those points savings into other options. The reduced cost will let me field my compulsary choices and leave me enough to put in some fun stuff like more Kans, maybe a Dread, more Stormboyz, etc.

Personally, it's going to be full mobs of 30 all the way, baby. I've got far too many Boyz hanging around who never get much of the action, so the reduced points cost is a good incentive to get them out and make up the full 30. I never seem to be able to fit in as many Boyz as I'd like in any army list - hopefully it'll be the end of that in the new Codex.

I dunno. I doubt the price of the Trukk will rise 30 points - because that`s the amount of points you`re saving with the new Boyz. Im also considering using Shootas instead of Sluggas in Pikk Ups - since they can now shoot before charging, see the as having 20 bonus attacks...

Additionally, writing off the Speed Freeks as "screwed" wothout knowing what the new Bikes, Warbuggies and Deth Koptas are like sounds premature to me...

CmdrBonesaw, don't forget that Trukkz are rumoured to be able to carry 12 Orkz now instead of the previous 10. I'm not entirely sure that Shootas in transports is a good idea though - you can still fire Sluggas before charging into CC, so you still get half the number of shots you'd have with Shootas at the same Str and AP, but then you get more Attacks in CC where you're more likely to hit things with your high WS than at range. To me, it seems that Shootas should be the weapon of choice for footsloggers, while Trukkaz would be better off sticking with Sluggaz and Choppaz.

Bonesaw - I hadn't considered just how much we'll be saving with cheap Boyz; you've reassured me greatly.

I think I'll still be packing Sluggas and Choppas in the Trukk mobs though, for a bit of assault punch... I have to remind myself that not everything I'm charging is T4 and wears Power Armour :P.

Good points... but since Trukks are open vehicles, you could use your Shootas from them... and somehow, the image of a Trukk load of Shootas making a "Drive-By" is just too cool... I guess I`ll try out both - a Trukk with Shootas and another one with Sluggas.

But let`s wait for the `Dex before we make any final decisions, shall we?
