Default Some of the Ladz - WIP

I posted this on The Waaagh last week, but forgot to post it here!

A Gorkamorka boy that came in one of my recent eBay acquisitions. I had forgotten how detailed and characterful these models are! He's not done yet (none of these are), but I can't decide on a color for his hair. :sowhat I've been experimenting with mixing up greys into black to add depth and such to black trousers, jackets, boots, etc. I'm fairly happy with the way this is coming along.

Some veteran lads. Between the helmets and quilted armor, and the studded leather hat on the guy with the chainsword, these are going to be Flash Gitz. I need 30 for my army (no matter what size), and these guys are right up my street. The guy wearing the helmet that covers his eyes is totally a Flash Git, there's no denying it. I had to "dude up" his quilted armor, too, painting a dag pattern on each quilted shoulderpad. Because I was terrified of getting yellow down into the cracks, I painted a grey basecoat and the yellow on each "pip"...individually. Twice. :/

The chainsword-toting fellow is one of my favorites out of the lot of old stuff that came in this lot. I just like the model, not sure why. I painted the shell of the chainsword yellow in anticipation of putting hazard stripes on it, but I just REALLY like it plain yellow. Again, not sure why.

The guy in the leather jacket hugging his bolter, er, shoota is a neat little guy. I still have to detail the lenses on him (and on Helmet Boy), drybrush his jacket and add a bit more detail. On the rear view, his "armor" across his ass looked like so much like a wasp's stinger and, being a Bad Moon anyway, I just HAD to paint it.

I'll have some more 3rd Edition Flash Gitz posted when I'm done with them, as they'll be the bulk of the force, obviously. There's another fellow with a mohawk that'll be done soon as well and hopefully before the week is out I can show off my Wyrdboy!

Very cool models, Commissar!! I loved a lot of the old second edition models. In third edition the models ditched their cool threads and got hooked on Ork Steroids! I really liked the old softcap boyz, they make great Mek Boyz!

Best Regards,

In that case, so is sex. Therefore, pornstars and prostitutes are professional athletes.

Thanks, EL.

And yeah, IVEATCH, I've been considering making a few of the Blood Axe "softies" into Meks, since I need three or four in an 1850 pt. army. I have quite a few with those "caps" that don't have axes on them, either. Most of them I'm just using in a stock config to flesh out Slugga and Flash Git mobs, but I definitely need to get my HQ units done. I'm not even close to being able to field a painted army at 1500 pts., but I'm going to try to get enough assembled the rest of the week to field 1500 pts. this weekend. We shall see! ;D
