Default Lend a helping hand in a new Horde

Im sure you get a lot of these posts and maybe, just maybe, get a little tired of answering them, but advice from seasoned ork players is just too great to pass up. My main question is: what would you buy if you had $350 and were buying from www.buywargames.com . Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Well I presume that the fact that you posted in the Ork portion of the Forum means that you are interested in an Ork army, correct?

If that is the case a lot will depend on the type of game you want to play. Ork hoard armies will require around 100 to 150 ork (approximately) models. Last I looked a boxed set of 16 was going for around $30.00 US. Just the boxed sets of Slugga/Shoota Boyz will run around 200 dollars US. You'll also need a Warboss at roughly $10.00 or so. Nobs (their like Space Marine Sergeants) around $6.00 or so. You'll probably need about four or five of those (It may be cheaper to buy the boxed Nob set of five Nobs).

An Ork Kult of Speed army will have fewer models, but they'll be more expensive. Warbikes are around $15.00 each, Wartruks are around $20.00. Wartraks are around 20 bucks or so.

These prices may be off. Its been a while since I actually bought anything new (other then bitz orders). I, like you, had some money and bought a whole `bunch' of stuff. I've spent over two years in assembling and painting my models!

Best to only buy a few small units and see what YOU like to play/collect as models. This way you don't buy things that you have subsequently changed your mind on.

Best regards,

Thanks for your response, IVEATCH.

As to a type of army, i was considering a more foot sloggish style of army. Lots of slugga boyz and grots. Uisng the prices of the website that I provided, it would be awesome if you could maybe put out a list of what you'd buy if you had $450. Thx

Unless you have a gift certificate for the place you mention, I would definitely order from http://www.thewarstore.com. Neal has 20% off all the time, has free shipping for orders over $60, and I think there's a bigger discount when you go over a few hundred dollar order. It can save you quite a bit of money. Aside from that the service is great.

What to buy? Here's what I would do (don't know how much this would cost) to start a footsloggin' army:
2 Boxes of normal boyz
Box of nobs
Regular warboss
3 blisters of 'eavy weapon boyz (1 rokkit & 1 big shoota in each)
2 blisters of burna boyz
1 'eavy armor nob (comes with a power klaw)
1 box of fantasty goblins to use as grots (or buy 2nd ed. plastic grots off of Ebay)

Then, if you have money left:
3 kans
1 box of boyz (convert them into sluggas)
1 'eavy armor nob (for another power klaw nob)
1-2 blisters tankbusta boyz
1 box of stikkbombz (to use as the rest of your tankbustas; they can be found cheap on Ebay often)
