hey i used to use necrons for my school league as well as my tau and i used to use:

3+ necron warriors squads

necron lord with res orb

detroyers

scarabs

I think that, that is all i'll have to check as not sure on points.

hope this helps.

At 500pnts you have:

A lord 100pts
2 squads ofwarriors: 360pnts

Then with the other 140 you could have a bunch more warriors like 4 more per squad
Add 5 immortals which are 140pts
Add some special units like 8 flayed ones @126pts
Add some warriors and some wraiths. 41pts/wraith
At such a small battle size even 2 or 3 wraiths are quite effective units
or you could deck out your lord with a veil of darkness for 60 pts
and add some warriors to each squad

Need 150 pnts for a minimum sized squad of destroyers.

Personally just have a basic lord with veil if you want, but its probably not as worth it and as many warriors as possible you don't want to phase out because you didn't have enough warriors.

Necrons are sort of boring at really low pnt levels : / but a lord with 27 warriors is a force to be reckoned with.

Good Luck

Another option would be pick up about 10 Scarab swarms. Divide them up into 2 or 3 squads and use them for distraction/holding units while you set up your warriors and lord in postion to shoot. Wraiths are also a very good that point level as their speed and CC ability makes them pretty fearsome.

I apologize if this a little late(how did you do in the regional heats?), but a well versed (for me anyway) 600pt list is the tarantula formation.
necron lord-140pts
destroyer body-(30)
warscythe-(10)

10 necron warriors-180

10 necron warriors-180

2tomb spiders-110
staff of light

Firstly, destroyer body makes you immune to instant death, and makes the lord extremely flexible. The warscythe is a potent weapon at this points level, so make sure your lord gets into combat asap!

Second, the tomb spiders present a durable enemy to most troops, and can tie down enemy melee squads for a turn or two when they have scarabs with them. The staff of light also allows them to shoot a bit, just to soften the enemy a little before going into combat.

Finally, necrons bunker down in cover, only leaving it to contest objectives. They must be positioned in such a way as to deny victory points, and if a tomb spyder hangs back, they can easily form a giant unit should one unit get wiped out.

Hi, first time poster long time vistor of the site.

Recent necron player and destroyers have served well.

Building up 2 units of wraiths to work together and also plan to use scarabs.

I have read that 2-3 units of wraiths sent to the front center of the enemies army can be a lot of fun (i am sure that is dependent on the enemy among other factors) and play havok with their formation.

Also I heard that attaching a destroyer lord (w/ power weapon) to a unit of scarabs can be powerful and nasty.

Not wanting to start a rumor but went to my local shop today (first time in months) and the clerk said necrons were getting codex in fall. Maybe he was just rehashing rumors he read online. Has anyone heard any scuttlebutt on this or was it just an enthusiastic cleark telling me what I want to hear?

Thanks all!
