Monoliths on their own are almost a reason to do necrons. They're near impossible to destroy and have a scary amount of firepower. As far as I can tell, the only reason they're cheaper than land raiders is because they don't have a transport capacity.

They do though sort of. You can put units in reserve that can come out of the monolith
and you can allow any unit with Necron special rule within 18" to teleport and renter through the portal not a standard transport but it is one none the less.

The Land raiders definitely have a lot more weapons capacity and move much faster. Depending on the landraider though.

As a Tau player i can say that amonolith will go down quite easily to a 3 man XV88 team.

And isnt the lith 300 points? Only the Land Raider Achillies, or Terminus Ultra cost that much.

HappyTau the monolith is only 235 points and the monolith like land raiders is not as impossible to stop as it appears. a squad of 3 twin-linked rail guns will do it lol. In a battle I had recently, since the monolith can only move 6 inches a turn and was limited by terrain placement in its path some thunder hammers were on it in like turn 3 lol. Land raider much faster.

Agreed.
Just like they employ someone for whom the Ingleesh is not their first language to write their rules (unless writing standards have dropped so far in the last 20 years). No other set of rules is as badly written with so many loopholes and omissions (well, no other English language rules).

There will always be faults and loopholes, no matter who writes it.
