yeah that is where I found it. I will look at the variation with mithril silver and see how it compares to the one in the guide. I have to be certain score repainting 2700points.
I would say, Blotgun metal with a heavy Mithril highlight. That way it wont be all one-tone. Look better too and still be quite bright. If there is a different colour of metal which is darker/lighter then Mithril that can be used as an undercoat/highlight then that'll work instead of boltgun as well.

The one thing with your scheme, is that mono-silver doesn't look good on it's own. Needs a highlight with some other silver, a wash or both. The one in the picture looks really cool, why are you so dead-set on a metallic scheme? Most of the better necron schemes are non-metallic and get lots of compliments. I know you have a lot of models, but would you rather have a lot of very nice looking necrons slowly, or less interesting necrons quickly? Not that a metallic scheme looks bad, but it requires more to it then just dry brushing over black and adding the gauss rod.

Very exciting that your planning to re-paint the entire army, thats quite inspiring.

Different rods can be bought from...somewhere or another. Look good too. I have thought about doing the same for my honky-tonk's.

EDIT
[hr]

Now that I actually read your entire post beyond the pretty pictures, I say that sounds like a wonderful idea.

I never said about a just metallic scheme. I meant doing the structure (ie not the armour plates or torso) in metal and the rest in the scheme in the picture. That would e like the mock ups in the first post.

A only metal scheme would make me want to sharpen my lords warsytche and kill myself with it. It would be so boring.

EDIT: it should be noted this is repaint number 2. Repaint 1 was still at 2000points.

The washes do a real nice job at tinting the metallic colors even in the smallest amounts. Try some out on green sprue and lemme see how it looks, if you don't mind that is. Would like to see how that turns out.

I don't see anyone who's posted it yet, but you don't need to "cast" any rods of your own.

Plastruct makes them in a variety of colors at very cheap prices. Measure what you'll need and simply order the correct size.

I've always been partial to the Ceramic looking Necrons with blue/orange gauss weapons. Purple or amber would be unique as well.

I was going to buy from plastruct. The problem i have is the monolith that I may have to cast parts in red resin for.

Indeed. The crystal should be easier than the portal but I still have no clue what I'm doing but I'll sort that when I get there. I'll probably practice casting a few little sculpts I'll make or making shotguns for my IG.
