Default Necrons On Planet Strike

Ok so I just got whooped badly today like never before, but I don't feel super terrible because it was more of a learning experience for me then anything else. This was my first time playing Planet strike and there was only one objective but I didn't know what I should've been doing and it wasn't until the end of the game that I saw I should have assaulted the building from the front and destroyed it and just hold it down with anything in my army.

Well anyways, I wanted to create this topic so we can all share our ideas for Planet Strike using the Necrons. There is still much I need to learn but I was wondering what are some nice things to bring a long in this expansion. Of course you will play as defender or attacker so the ideas here are endless. So please feel free to share all that you know and for all you Necron experts (I know there's some out there) don't even hesitate to to give me your all. I'm a good listener and I would love to hear what you have to say.

Haven't played Necrons as attacker yet, but just remember. GW themselves says that their expansions are not intended for serious, competitive play. With planetstrike, the defender if he really hated you could make the terrain so impossible for you to do anything, you lose by default. Also, as attacker, play missions 2,3,4 and 6. Planetfall(#1) and Forlorn Hope(#5) are HARD to win as attacker.

I played against Necrons, and I can tell you tomb spyders are great at taking out bastions. The fact that they are hard to kill, you can take a bunch of them, and they roll 2D6 for armor penetration makes them ideal attackers.

remember that some armies are made for attacking(like SM and their drop pods) while others are very good a defense (IG and their masters of the fleet/ordnance) so some advantage automatically goes to them...

I don't think IG can attack anything and get away with it. I mean, running at them with tanks is stupid with thier long range, and guardsmen are just awful...

Yes but you have to take into account all the other different units the Imperial Guard have such as Storm Troopers or Ogyrns which are pretty good at assaulting a lot of things. Also guardsmen are very good at mobbing objectives as in Planetstrike the attacker only has to contest the building to count as owning them. Also, the tanks can be very powerful at short range such as the tank variant witht he demolisher cannon.
