Default Ctan to be removed??

I have been looking into starting a necron army and one of the main reasons was being able to field Ctan. I've read countless rumors and posts saying that the Ctan are going to be moved to Apoc in the new codex. Does this have any validity? I've been looking forward to building this army and I just don't know if I would want to spend a bunch of money on an army that I would only be able to use for 4 months. If this is likely, when is this new codex foreseen to be released? ugh my heart just sank into my stomach =T please let it be lies~ any comments?

Its all rumors, mate. Nobody really knows for sure, but it seems quite possible. I imagine the models would remain useful in some sort of way, of course, but if it happens, I'll be quite dissapointed.

I wouldn't worry too much. If they do move C'tan to Apocalypse, they would also have to move greater Daemons and several other units there as well. For their points, C'tan should stay in 40K, and (if anything) they may actually add another C'tan (Outsider anyone?). Most of the rumors were started by non-Necron Players who were tired of C'tan owning them and wanted to vent thier frustration. Be more concerned about the WBB change possibiltity (thoguh I don't think they will change it to FNP, they will probably just stream line WBB). Its all speculation anyway. In the end, we will still be there to harvest the souls of the living.

No. C'tan and Greater Daemons are NOT on the same level. A better analogy would be "If Necrons can field C'Tan in standard 40k, Chaos players should be able to field Khorne/Nurgle/etc."

There have been enough rumours from gamers of both sides, staff members, development and Forgeworld (not least the fact that the C'tan aren't mentioned AT ALL in the 5th Ed rulebook Necron background, you'd think it'd be important) to make it *fairly* certain.

The models won't be useless however. Apparently FW are going to make HUGE C'tan (like Warhound/FW Greater Daemon sized) and rules even bigger and badder than those so that when you field *actual* C'tan they can wield the kind of power they're supposed to, but the *existing* models, rumour has it, will still be useable in a Dawn of War-esque "Essence of the Nightbringer/Deceiver" upgrade for the Lord.

No, this isn't certain. But there are enough signs to suggest it is likely.

Crikey! This crazy clown causes commotion like the coming of Christ. The prospect of a Forgeworld Nightbringer with a scythe easily capable of slicing a Titan from shoulder to hip, would probably result in me collecting some Necrons to be perfectly honest.

And an accompanying warhound so you can actually slice a Titan from shoulder to hip.

I really hope C'Tan are removed from the normal tabletop. GW's excuse for making them weaker is that they have to tone down their powers in order to take the form of their respective tabletop models. Don't like it.

I do like what Circus recommended about the essence of a C'tan being an upgrade fro the Lord.

BoLS was kicking around the idea a while back that, like Circus mentioned, the existing C'tan models would become new upper tier lords who have been gifted with a C'tan like necrodermis as a blessing from the star gods.
