Default So long and thanks for all the gauss...

I've always considered myself a Necron player. I've taken Necrons to tournaments, GT's, RTT's, 'Ard Boyz, Games Day's, whatever. My Decepticrons evolved from a host of forebearer Necron lists, and ultimately did me good.

That said, 5th edition is here, and I'm unconvinced that Necrons can maintain our primacy in the face of these rules changes, in particular the changes to combat resolution and the weakening of glancing hits. I don't think I can achieve the results I'm used to with Necrons.

I'm switching my tournament army to Chaos Daemons until the new Necron codex. I'm still a Cron at heart, my tin heads are just retiring to their stasis tomb until the warp storm passes. The Deceiver, much like Elvis, has left the building for a smoke break.

I'll Be Back.

I happen to agree with you. I put a great deal of time and effort in my old skool Nercon Army to play in tournament level. The things I am hearing is going to make the Necron Army less of a option to play.

It's now a $1500 paper weight that is on display.

I've am loathing on how GW is changing all of their past (chaos as a prime example) history only to make a money.

It's weird how may people are switching...My Tau are getting shelved for awhile until my Tzeentch army comes through.

I truly didn't think Necros were hit as hard as some other armies...The Gauss was a minor nerf really, at least you guys didn't get the FNP you were rumored to be getting. I think grenades was the things that hurt you the most. :P

Fnp...six of one, half a dozen of the other. It's really not all that different. Gauss is handy though. Without it, warriors are really just overpriced marines with fnp...and crap I. Really bad plaguemarines. And you *have* to take them.

Now, this wont hit my necron army so much, but it will suck a lot for some...

Yes the new rules for glancing hits has had a huge effect on gauss weaponry and disruption fields. Warriors and scarabs are alot less usefull. :'( But hey the monolith is tougher as a result! And flayed ones are alot more usefull > thanks to the new infiltrating rules and less harsh deep striking rules. I suppose we will all have to use more heavy destroyers for all our tank hunting needs! It's all swings and round abouts. :

Eh, the last thing the necron army list needs is tougher monoliths...

I imagine my tactic of *a gazillion spyder attacks* will be nearly as effective though. Sure, odds of actually destroying per pen went down, but in theory, the additional pens from hitting rear armor should partially compensate. As a realistic matter...Id rather have the old way. At least then I could kill a holofalcon if I actually did get lucky.

Agree with the first statement.

Second:
It is that luckiness that annoys amour users no end. A space marine should not be able to explode a vehicle just because he's hitting the rear end with a rock off the ground. That is not realistic!
