Default C'Tan and 5th Ed

Has anyone else noticed that on the Necron race section (page 178-181) there is no mention whatsoever of the C'Tan?

This can only be a good thing in my eyes, but what do you think?

Crikey! This crazy clown causes commotion like the coming of Christ. Contained in a circle corrupted by crackheads and carnal cravings, he creates no concession to callous cheaters concentrating on nought but cock. Certainly, still a curious and cordial cavalier in the countenance of crazed cads, curs and creeps who condemn courtesy as something corny. No cloud could collapse his crushing crescendo of comical crowing and crimson coiffure. This conjecture on culture comes circumlocutive, consequently...

I was thinking the same, I rather like the Necron background in the 5th edition rulebook. I like the C'tan models, but I'd like to see them gone, too. :P

I haven't gotten to the Necron fluff yet, but it wouldn't break my heart if they went away. I could be wrong in this, but aren't Necrons the only army that actually fields their gods? Other armies field representatives of their gods, but not their actual god. If they changed it so we got much more toned down representatives of the C'tan, something more inline with other armies, then I'm all for it.

Metal fans are allowed to use stereotyped generalisations of other types of music. Why? Because the "avatar" of Rap and similar music is a binged up black guy who holds his gun in such a way as he will probably shoot his own foot off in a gunfight. The avatar of Metal is a bearded, unwashed Scandinavian guy who kills you, your family, your town, your country and the neighbouring country because there isn't much else to do up in the snowy fjords of Vikingland.

I'd be soooo happy if the Ctans were never ever mentioned again and the entire 3rd-4th ed. Necron fluff was wiped away.

Second ed. Necrons had awesome fluff. Mysterious, esoteric, menacing, almost lovecraftian. The fear was in the unknown.

And then 3rd. ed. decided to tell us their entire history, motive, nature, capabilities, gods, culture, favourite food and who they'd like to meet one day. It also kind of ruined enslavers for us.

Not only did it wipe out all of cool bits of fluff, it also made it really bad by being stupidly intrusive on 40k lore and bringing up parts of it (OLD ONES lol!) that nobody wanted to hear or know about.

For me I didnt care so much for must of the Ctan.
However, I love the Nightbringer.
But, thats mainly because Im a HUGE Reaper fan. lol
I would love to see FW do to the Nightbringer what they did
to the Eldar Avatar. Make it big and bad A**

Past that.... if the Ctan are gone... I can handle it.

What would be sweet though... is if the Nightbringer was made to be a
creation of the Necron, as in a robot itself, created to instill the irrational (or not)
fear that most (if not all) races have of Death and its iconology
If the Ctan go.... I may just write up the rules for something along these lines....
Hell.... might do it anyway...

Well, thats my opinion.....

[edit: Now that ive had a chance to skim through the book more throughly, im thinking
my idea w/ the Nighbringer may not be all that original after all. Check out the last sentence
of the 2nd paragraph on pg 179 to see what I mean. I think the 'Ctan' will be gone.
But reading that, it seems as if the current Ctan models will be Lords made Avatars.....]
