After seeing the Necron Warrior Phalanx I could not resist it.
I have a few questions though. 1. Could I make a good list with just the models in the set, or is there anything I must buy? 2. 5th Edition. Any major changes to the 'cron play style? 3. Is a Necron fear list more viable or less viable in 5th? (I'm not looking to be competitive with it, just have some fun! And this question doesn't really relate to the set itself.) 4. Orks, my main opponent, can I beat them? How? 5. Any tutorials out there on making Warriors into GOOD looking Immortals and Destroyers into H. Destroyers? |

Hey Ivellis,
1. In the Phalanx you get 48 warriors, 6 Destroyers, 12-14 scarabs (providing you place 3 on a base) a Monolith and a Lord. If you run your warriors in units of 12 this gives you 4 troop choices. Run your Destroyers in 2 units of 3 this takes up 2 Fast attack slots, or if you want to try your hand at converting you have the chance to make 3 Destroyers and 2-3 Heavy D's (if you make 2 you have the option to make a Destroyer lord). Monolith takes a single Heavy support. 2. Can't answer that only just starting 'crons. 3. As above. 4. Well the monolith will help if you are facing foot slogging Orks. Deepstrike in the masses of boyz and use the Liths Arc ability to damage the nearby units. Against KoS and Mega armoured lists I am unsure. 5. I believe Mal has some guides in the stickies, be sure to read them as they are so well typed out and easy to understand for those of us who are new to Necrons. Sorry this is not really all that helpful, but I am starting out with 'Crons as well and looking at the Phalanx boxset. Please read my thread below as some questions are answered there. Best Shiki~ Edited for Spelling errors

Unfortunately you actually do not get scarabs with the Necron Warrior Phalanx Set, just the 48 Warriors, 6 Destroyers, Necron Lord and the Monolith.
But this is more than enough to start with.

It says on the site 12 scarab swarms and shows them on the box. So if they're not in it, then they better be willing to give me scarabs when they advertised as having them. Or I'll sue! :P

Yea there are Scarabs in the set. On the Australian site it doesnt say it has teh scarabs, but I believe they have scarabs in the warrior spures and if thats the case the Phalanx will have scarabs.

I'm not really sure this will help you but here it goes:
1. Yes, you can make a good list just buying that. 2. Not really sure, didn't read the new edition yet. 3. Can't answer that. 4. I.m not sure about that either, my main opponent is Tyranid and I have never ever played againest someone with Ork (Probably because I just started playing and I have only played 40k 2x) But I think wraiths and destroyers are a way to go when facing Orcs. 5. Don't have any tutorial, sorry I don't do modelling often.
