Default How do you field your Necron force? Deployment/List

Please, do not turn this into an arguement of what the best way to field the Necron army. You can discuss/debate/evaluate/suggest. You cannot tell/insult/talkdown/make snide indirect comments or anything of the nature. This is your only warning.

Now, with that out of the way, how do you like to field your Necron force? Weither it be take on all commers, friendly, abstract, ect.

I have found the 15 destroyers/9 heavy destroyers/Hq with orb/Warriors list to be very powerful. You have 54 shots at a three foot range, all of which are at str 6 or higher.

my list is:

Lord with warscythe and res. Orb.
40 warriors,
3 destroyers
9 scarabs
1 tomb spyder
2 heavy destroyers.

i usally have a block of warriors, with scarabs either in front or to the side. the destroyers are on one of the flanks and the spyder and lord is behind. OR...
i have 10 or 20 warriors charge forward into hand to hand and the lord and spyder to help while the scarabs attack anything deadly in hand to hand. the destroyers kill any longe ranged firepower.

It truly depends on the point level. If it is something like 1000 points, I will take something simple, small, and effective.

1 nightbringer
20 warriors
4 scarabs
3 tomb spyders
1 heavy destroyer

Two vehicle cracking weapons combined with an iron fist in close combat gives the warriors support in the area which they are the weakest. Multiple close combat units enable the entire force (Warriors backbone) to be split up and still have enough clout to get the job done. Scarabs tie units up for the nightbringer to catch.

1500 turns into something that is hard to pin down. There is a teleporting list, wraith wing with immortal hopping, the sister list to the one above, etc, etc.

Teleporting list is

1 lord: veil, SoL
1 lord: res orb, crono, SoL
10 flayed ones (infiltrated or deepstruck)
30 warriors (3 groups of 10, one using special reserve rule)
2 monoliths

Each lord pairs up with a squad of warriors in the beginning to keep everything working. Then the liths and the veil allow nearly the entire list to teleport each turn (a choice between flayed ones and warriors may ensue, but grabbing objectives is quite easy on the last turn). The biggest chinch is that the only heavy firepower is the monoliths, however if you look after the behemoths then the mobility is exquisite and the heavy firepower is more than enough (very effective against marine equivalents or lower) Terminators will still be a problem, oh well.

I like all comer lists that can still take on some of the more specialized armies. The high mobilitie list can be effective against pretty much anything except heavy indirrect fire, tons of heavy fire (monolith killing stuff), and stuff with 2+ saves (hurts against nidzilla, so I guess I should just try and run away).

As an avid Tin'ead player I take all sorts of lists, from large Destroyer Armada's to quirky Wraith-Wings - My favourite type actually. Gotta love Wraiths.

But anyway, here is my 'standard' 1500p list;

HQ
Lord w/Resurrection Orb and Gaze of Flame

Elites
4 Flayed Ones
7 Immortals

Troops
10 Warriors
10 Warriors

Fast Attack
4 Destroyers
3 Destroyers

Heavy Support

Monolith
1 Heavy Destroyer
1 Heavy Destroyer

The Lord baby-sits the Warriors who are the heavy armour hunters of the army. It's what they're good at, best to leave them to it.

I infiltrate the Flayed Ones whenever possible as a small hit-squad to take on Heavy Weapon squads and the like. Or if it's Tau or IG whatever they feel like chopping up :P

The Immortals and Destroyers are both used as Infantry killers though if I have to the Immortals can be successfully used in tandem with Warriors against heavier armour and the Destroyers, light armour.
Both squads of Destroyers are obviously used within 6" of each other, for WBB purposes.

Monolith is for Army support, helping out with it's portal and Flux Arcs and generally it's sheer presence - a very good fire magnet. Though if I have nothing to portal and the Flux Arcs would be deemed ineffective, the Particle Whip gets a go or two.

Heavy Destroyers are used for those annoying 2+ saves and light vehicle hunting. Using two in separate units makes them far more survivable.

As I say, a decent standard army, fairly friendly but can hold it's own against most enemies.

I also field a list like this. A few of my opponets seem to like the approach:

Lord - 200
-Veil
-Orb

12x Warrior - 216
12x Warrior - 216

5x Destroyer - 250
3x Wraith - 123
3x Wraith - 123

Monolith - 250
Heavy Destroyer - 65
Heavy Destroyer - 65

It's meant to be a take on all comers list. The warriors, lord, and heavy destroyers advance up the middle of the battlefield taking out heavy armor. The wraiths either go hunting or do a counter charge sort of idea with the main flank. The Monolith deepstrikes, and sometimes pulls Wraiths out of cc so I can shoot and then charge again. The destroyers are behind the warriors shooting either troops or tanks, whchever is the bigger threat.

I find it simple but somewhat effective. It wins some and it loses some, but I love the generic feel of the list.

X is determined by the # of points available.

I like my Necrons like the fog coming off the coast, slow, implacatable, and deadly.

2000 pts List.

HQ: Lord, SOL, RO, PHY, DF
Elites: Pariahs x5

Troops: Warriors x15
Troops: Warriors x15
Troops: Warriors x15
Troops: Warriors x15

Fast Attack: Scarab Swarms x5
Fast Attack: Destroyers x3

Got movement, infiltrating and deep striking flayed ones, with the deep striking scarab swarms are great to tangle up enemy units until the 60 warrior gunline gets in place, going to switch to heavy destroyers, for tank hunting, eventually, but it will alter some of the rest of my lists construction, pretty decent on phase out, and pariahs can hold there own, and take out a deep struck terminator squad.

2000pt List

HQ
Deceiver
Destroyer Lord w warscythe, invuln, light field
HQ total: 495

Heavy
3x spyder
3x spyder
3x spyder(all 9 are cc geared)
Hvy total: 495

Elite
4x Pariah
Cant recall points, but I think 30odd each

Fast Attack
10x scarab
10x scarab
10x scarab(all 30 have disruption fields)
FA Total: 480

I'm not a big fan of tomb spyders, destroyers, or destroyer lords.
But here are some possible listes you might want to consider at the 2000pt level.

Monolithic List:

HQ: Lord Chrono, GoF, RO
Elite: Flayed Ones x10
Troops: Warriors x15
Troops: Warriors x15
Troops: Warriors x10
Troops: Warriors x10
Troops: Warriors x10
Troops: Warriors x10
Fast Attack: Scarab Swarms x8
Heavy Support: Monolith

Destroyer List:
HQ: Lord, WS, DB, PS, RO
Troops: Warriors x10
Troops: Warriors x10
Troops: Warriors x10
Troops: Warriors x10
Troops: Warriors x10
Troops: Warriors x10
Fast Attack: Destroyers x3
Fast Attack: Destroyers x3
Fast Attack: Destroyers x3
Heavy Support: Heavy Destroyers x2
Heavy Support: Heavy Destroyers x2
