Default for a friend

hello again my mindless robiotic friends.

I'm a lowly guard player and has a friend who is to stupid to join TO so I have too ask this for him.

what is the most crule, the most cheesy, the most merciless, the most beardy 2000 pt necron army that you can make.

you can use any unit, but the army has to have the proper force org.; and no fancy kill team, city fight, or other odd rules system.

so let the cheesyness begin ;D

Deceiver
20 warriors
30 Immortals
10 Destroyers (3, 3 and 4)

That's the strongest Necron take-all-comers army I've come up with at 2k. Most balanced forces will be shot to death easily and swiftly by this army. I could get beardy-er if you gave me a particular enemy list to maximize against, but this ought to swiftly ensure that no one plays against you.

I wholeheartedly agree, but I don't want to go down that alley again...

I dunno, after seeing 40kEnthusiast play Necrons I'm sure any list he comes up with is cheese. :P

I agree that this list is a very strong take all type of list. I'm not quite sure about one thing though, why not have orbs instead of the deciever? Is his purpose to be cannon fodder as well as an insane CC beast? The way I see it, with how slow he is, he would see maybe two rounds of combat. His abilities are pretty useful, but I think I would rather have obs than him o.o

Normally, I would agree with you, but 40kEnthusiast plays the Deceiver very well. For one, he's a huge fire magnet who can take the damage. Two, he can enter and leave combat at will. Very annoying. He provides some strong CC qualities while being immune to 9 out of 10 models on the battlefield, and can use Grand Illusion and redeploy your entire army in your favor. The Deceiver is by no means to be toyed with. What will a Lord do? Help get WBB. That's about it. For one, that Lord isn't helping the Immortals, who will rarely be shot at by a strength 10 weapon that ignores their armor, and the same is true of the Destroyers. Playing the list right, very few, if not all of the units here can avoid combat completely, which is another reason to choose the Deceiver over a ResOrb toting Lord.

This is my very strongest list. I have complete confidence in its ability to win a < 24 inch shooting match. My fear is of enemies who stay beyond this range (Destroyers to deal with them while the Immortals move up) or those who move into CC, for whom the Deceiver plays goaly.

As you say, the Deceiver's role is to be cannon fodder as well as an insane CC beast. Gada has also correctly pointed out the quality which makes him perfect for the role of fire line goaly, his ability to leave combat so as not to prevent Necron shooting. He skips out during their assault phase, stealing it, we move, shoot, and if there is anything left he charges back in and dices it with his C'tan foo. This also lets him manipulate the combat zone against the few foes who can hurt him.

Ok, so thats the cheesiest list you can come up with for 2000? What about 1500? (which is what we usually play over here)

Just subtract Destroyers or Immortals till you get to the desired points value. The warriors are mandatory, as is the HQ choice. If the points value gets too low you might have to drop the Big D and grab a Veil Lord, but the basic formula is HQ choice + min warriors + Immortals/Destroyers till out of points.
