I've never seen anyone win a tournament with Necrons. What are your experience in tourneys?

Yes, Necrons are a viable tournament army. If you look at the GW tournament results and average all their Tourney results Necrons place about half in the upper half and half in the lower half.
Personally, at Games Day Atlanta I had 2 massacre victories and a solid defeat with a gimmick Tomb Spyder list. If you play an actual legitimate Necron shooty list the sky's the limit.

Wow 40k you must be a beast at using Necrons (a compliment, not sarcasm) because whenever i go to a tournament it's like 5 Necrons Guys (including me) and only two of us have moderate skill, from my experience Necrons seem to do bad at tournaments

For me they are a force to be reckoned with, but unfortunately they rarely win tournies as mosty players spam on Ap 3 and lower weapons.
Have you seen 18 Dark lances on 11 skimmers on the table before? That will give you a picture of what I am usually facing in my tournaments. And they call my3 hammerheads, 3 devilfishes, 2 pirhanas, 6 fireknifes, and one helios cheesy. :

I actually bless a battle against Eldar spamming AP 3. At least we can WBB from such things, provided an orb is in the neighborhood. 11 skimmer lists are similarly target rich environs for the crons.
The armies that give me the most trouble are shooty/chargy chaos (2 infiltrate/demonic speed HQ's and the rest shooty) and Godzilla/psychic choir. The Lysander Wing is also a difficult game.

They are definitely viable, if you get lucky and use them right. I played my first tournament ever last week and came in third with my necron list out of about 20 or so guys.

Then one day I played Tau and found out what they are for- Necron walks up to Tau Tau: I win because I have a Rail Gun Necron sticks the end blade of Flayer in Rail Gun barrel Tau: Oh bugger Help, the r key doesn't work on my keyboard |
